So I couldn’t do this because I’m recovering from being sick all week and also I have a baby, but to get New Yorkers out exploring parts of the city they might not have gone to before, connecting with each other, and having cheap and wholesome fun is a genuinely beautiful thing in these times

(this is also obviously not to say that Seattle doesn't have issues with racism, in particular anti-Black racism, both now and historically. this is purely a plea to stop erasing the many people of color and immigrants who do definitely live here)

I mean there's DEFINITELY issues around that, don't get me wrong haha. I won't go into it in huge detail but especially for Black people specifically, that's true. it's not strictly true for diversity in general though! I live in North Seattle myself

btw every time I post anything like this somebody gets surprised that Washington/Seattle isn't like 90% white. WA State is only 64% white! 22% of Seattle doesn't speak English, and South Seattle averages 69% poc as residents. my neighborhood is about 50/50 poc and white! oc this matters to us
