Unusual language here in the New York Times’ claim that the Trump administration is trying to “reshape institutions that it views as cathedrals of liberalism.” What is the definition of a “cathedral of liberalism” and what right does Trump have to “reshape” it?

Liberalism is obviously having critical thinking skills and pedopresident said he loves the uneducated because they mirror his inability to read.

Whatever a “cathedral of liberalism” is it’s not the NYT & that’s point #1 they can be understood to be making.
As to “reshaping” such “cathedrals” the NYT is either: a) indifferent; or b) curious/excited.
What they are doing is signaling to Trump that this is a project they are indifferent toward

It's an institution that is the opponent of authoritarians like Trump--one that favors of truth--not the lies that are convenient for Right Wing authoritarians. Like other authoritarians, Trump grabs power & seizes rights to do anything he wants, as long as no 1 stops him. And no 1 is stopping him.

These are literally right wing talking points

They need to call it what it is: extortion.
-
also notable that these are phrases Curtis Yarvin created to describe his worldview, times adopting those is troubling.

You’ll know that Trump is leaving NYU alone. Because NYU let Trump‘s moron spawn Baron into its freshman class. If there is a cathedral of liberalism, it’s clearly NYU. That’s how you know. All of these moves are bullshit.

He's not trying to reshape anything.
Just destroying.
His kind don't know how to build or reshape or do any kind of constructive anything.
Takes too much effort.
They just plunder and destroy.

“Cathedrals of liberalism” = places dedicated to learning and higher education.
An “educational” example that’d be approved by the Trump administration is Trump University, a fraudulent con designed to fleece the elderly and the uneducated.

I view it more as a Kmart of liberalism.

Not so unusual for them these days. Mealy mouthed. This below their article about Trump's proposed Russia/Ukraine 'land swap'.: "The Ukrainian leader’s blunt comments risk angering President Trump, who has made a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia one of his signature foreign policy goals."

Out and out extortion by a president is now called reshaping cathedrals of liberalism.
The NYT has lost any semblance of integrity.

Bloody NYT is trying desperately to normalise Trump and MAGA. I can't find very much positive thinking in the legacy media in the US anymore.
-
Well, the Times is correct that the administration is going after liberalism. The error is in not understanding that the target is actually classical liberalism as a foundation for representative democracy
-
More importantly, why describe the initiative only in terms of how the Trump administration has "depicted" it?
Surely there are other perspectives on it worthy of including?

There are Cathedrals of Liberalism everywhere for those with eyes to see

Curtis Yarvin’s Plot Against America
The reactionary blogger’s call for a monarch to rule the country once seemed like a joke. Now the right is ready to bend the knee.

When does he start coming after coffee houses?

I don’t even think he knows those words, how to string them together, or even what they mean. He’s repeating what he was told or heard.
Once again, aren’t we at the point in the movie when the bad guys are neutralized? This movie plot is getting tedious and stale.

well we know the answer to that, don't we? this is straight out of Curtis Yarvin

SCOTUS has proclaimed this president has the right to reshape everything. He’s the Pope in the cathedral of conservatism, building a standing army of incels prepping for the election inquisition. We don’t have the legal right to question what he’s f$cking up. Or something.

If we're okay calling universities cathedrals of liberalism, then I'm fine with calling the NYT, the Wapo, and other knee bending news org the harem of fascism.
-
It’s called extortion. But the NYT has always loved fascism so on their knees they go.
