  1. In the archives we still have the letters and application forms for deported Jews' property

The people who really worry me are those who will never call for neighbours to be rounded up and removed, who would never consciously support it, but who, deep down, wonder whether, if others got their hands dirty, they would really mind the world it would usher in and then put it out of their mind.

  2. This is a vg point that exposes a brittleness in govt comms. Willing to go into battle to defend a policy position that began life under a Tory govt, unable to swing into action to defend democracy against fascistic troublemaking.

Given a frontbencher was willing to directly link Farage to Jimmy Saville (!) over the Online Safety Act, you'd think there'd be someone who is not on holiday to say "Farage wants to use your money to pay the Taliban to torture people who helped us in our war" or something along those lines.

  3. @sirjjkc.bsky.social highlights here what we can call the 'Policy Exchange fallacy':

if 'common law rights and fundamental freedoms' [sic] provide equivalent protection to the ECHR ones, then what does repealing the latter achieve?

A Reform government might repeal the HRA, pull out of the ECHR and potentially other international instruments. But would it legislate to disapply common law rights and protections (eg against torture) which opponents of the ECHR are fond of saying are of an equivalent standard?

  4. Because some people haven't heard it yet: PAYPAL IS NOT A BANK, DO NOT LEAVE MORE THAN A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS SITTING IN YOUR ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME. MOVE IT TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY.

Paypal can and will close your account and steal all your money without warning. And have done MANY times.

  5. BREAKING: In a shocking upset minutes ago, Democrat Catelin Drey just FLIPPED an Iowa State Senate seat from red to blue and broke the Iowa GOP's supermajority in the state senate.

  6. a friend of mine who's worked on a somewhat recent free multiplayer game says this about player feedback that I feel like is very astute

hearing the feedback is frequently important but responding to it well almost never means just doing what the players say they want

one more time!

PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT ABOUT HOW THEY FEEL
PLAYERS MAY BE WRONG ABOUT WHY
PLAYERS ARE ALWAYS WRONG ABOUT THE SOLUTION

  7. the juxtaposition of 'let's enjoy Paddington bear!' and 'let's deport human migrants to the Taliban!' is too perfect
