"we don't need any humanities education" is also the position of much of the ROI Center and ROI Left (aka neoliberalism's position on higher ed). So they have allies.
There really is a tension between the "RETVRN to classical education" school of the contemporary American right-wing and the "we don't need any humanities education" school of the contemporary American right. And, unsurprisingly, the latter seem to be winning.

Oh, this is easy! Medieval Heroes and Villains - a mix of medieval accounts and stories like the Life of Charlemagne, Le Morte D'Arthur, the original Robin Hood tales, etc. Maybe a bit of a cheat because it was still literature, but I did not end up being a medievalist.

Society and Morals. A philosophy class I took simply because I wanted all of my classes on T/Th and it fit into my open time slot. It’s still the class I reference when talking about undergrad.
