When there was positive economic data under Biden, the New York Times told us to worry, with headlines like: “Why a Strong U.S. Economy Is Making Stock Investors Jittery” and “Inflation Has Been Easing Fast, but Wild Cards Lie Ahead” But when there is worrisome data under Trump, NYT reassures us:

Economic Data Has Taken a Dark Turn. That Doesn’t Mean a Crash Is Near.
Inflation is up and job creation down, but the U.S. economy could still pull through without too much pain.

  1. I basically think nobody knows what the fuck will happen with the economy or the stock market and the New York Times just writes clickbait headlines because they need to eat too

  2. They have totally thrown away any reputation they ever had. I haven’t seen the word “recession” one single time since Trump took over. With Biden it was at least 3 headlines a week. If job numbers came in 10 people short it was “fears of a recession” for weeks.

  3. Another story from New Puke Times Tuesday told us that the stock market could come crashing down any second. Hello, anyone at the Times reading the Times?

  4. I don't think NYT is biased toward Trump. In fact, they're scandalously neutral on the question of whether our democracy survives. I think NYT spins stories in a counterintuitive manner ("Bad data is good news!") because they think it makes them look savvy and sophisticated.

  5. It puts the lotion on its skin. Anything to stay in the middle fringe and not make the crazy people yell at them.

  6. When weasel-wording, even in headlines, displays a clear pattern and agenda over decades, it's bias, not some puffed-up attempt at being "savvy."

  7. Times are changing - the trumpedo administration will do anything to control the narrative - do not trust corporate media.

  8. Again observe the hypocrisy of the extremely wealthy, in this case the news moguls who use their platforms to manipulate us when facts, known as truth & ethical journalism, would best serve our society. It's nothing new, there have always been the me, my, mine pronoun preferences of the privileged.

  9. The NYT doesn’t want the economy to crash. They DO want people to be perpetually anxious that it will crash.

The economy was safe under Biden, so their headlines wouldn’t push the economy over the edge.

The economy is NOT safe under Tr*mp, so headlines could push it over the edge.

  10. The media under DEMs adm. jeopardized coverage on the achievement of policies objectively ie, to raise public consciousness. It failed to fact-checking timely. The media was obsessed with the daily agenda of DT. Now it seems it is operating BS all under fear?

  11. Infuriating! The one I cannot let go of was along the lines of "Bad news for Biden recession now 100% likely in next 12 months". They were extremely wrong then and proven wrong now! The lack of accountability is evidence of how much of a choice this all is.

  12. What is the true motivation for the media’s treasonous behavior? Also, even I know we are near a crash.

  13. This is why I hate it when people link to the NYT on this site. Why give them the clicks? They are farming anger engagement with their crap headlines and evident biases. I make it a point to never click on any link that will take me to a WaPo or NYT piece. No gift links. Screenshots? Fine.

  14. at one point the NYT under biden ran with a headline about there being a 100% chance of recession...

  15. Don't forget such faves as "These Doctors Will Quit if Obamacare Passes", where four of the five doctors profiled were actually just tired of practicing medicine. That was CNN, though, but same BS.

  17. The situation seems different but the problem is the same: how does "instant news" cover slow-motion economic developments? With Biden, I kept saying "a soft landing (which we ultimately got) takes time." Same here: cracks in a once healthy economy (which we no longer have) won't sink it overnight.

  18. NY Times-I subscribe and I’m sick of your subtle editorializing favoring the right radicals. Get straight.

  19. “ …& how this is bad for Biden”…Jake tapper & Trump’s team at CNN

  21. A few weeks before the 1987 crash, I read a story in the WSJ quoting a broker saying that "this bull market will never end". The next day I moved my 401k out of equities.

  22. They spent 4 years STRAIGHT talking about how much we still didn't achieve the "soft landing"

  23. Legacy media is influenced by the ever growing dishonest right-wing media empire. They allow the right’s framing to seep into their coverage. They’re afraid of criticism from the right so they both-sides everything rather than just being accurate. And, shareholder return > the greater public good.

  24. NYT is a shell for Trump an the republican party, I don't know why any clear thinking person would subscribe to it.

  25. Basically, for any piece of good news under the Biden admin, MSM tagged onto the headline:

"...why this is bad news for Biden, Harris, HRC, Obama, Bill Clinton and the Democrats."

E.G. : "The post-Covid economic recovery under Biden is stronger than expected. Why this is bad news for..."

  26. A decade parroting Trump's "Greatest economy ever!" schtick without any sort of fact checking, while criticizing Biden's truly stellar economy and ignoring the massive role COVID played in high inflation... Inflation, btw, which had been steadily decreasing for 2.5 years prior to the election.

  27. They normalized Trump 24/7 during the campaign. Now, @nytimes.com reassures us that Trump's insane tariffs, inflation, and increasing unemployment is . . . no problemo!! If they spent as much time exploring his derangement as they spend as abject apologists, we'd be far better off. #BrokenTimes

  28. Will be interesting to see their FINAL headlines:

"We THINK America just put us out of business, this seems to be our final publication"

    Bootlickers not protecting the TRUTH.

  29. Reminds me of all those "Republicans just stuck their dicks in an electrical outlet, here's how that's bad for Democrats!" headlines.

  30. The market has been skewed by right wing politics for decades. Gotta have those tax cuts & deregulation. But the crash will still crash and no one in the market will blink or own their part of it. Just like last time, or the time before that.

  31. Such a sad example of the complete capitulation of @nytimes.com. This is what happens when billionaires own and control our sources of news and information and are only concerned with their own self interest.

  32. Wouldn’t want those damn liberals to get any good press…maybe offer some gold bars in trade for positive press coverage?

  33. It’s almost like the paper is making it fairly obvious that they are intentionally helping usher in a brutal fascist dictatorship.

  34. Remember the scene in The Godfather after Michael said he would kill Sollozzo & Capt McCluskey Sonny was "hell no, you nuts little brother?"

But Michael knew better... "We have people in the press, we can sell it, corrupt cop... involved in the drug business..."

    Tom Hagen "Yes"

    How it got done
