Gerrymandered districts will be more subject to swing, hence why some think it's risky for a party to embrace. A winner of a swing district who doesn't focus on their voters won't last very long.

You seem to be arguing, redistricting could make districts more swingy and less of a sure thing. I agree that's a risk.
You then seem to be arguing a swingy district makes the winner less accountable to voters. That's where we disagree.

So, California should do nothing while TX gerrymanders to lock in a GOP House. The result is no different than CA taking the chance and it backfiring. But if CA takes the chance and succeeds then we get a better result.
And your less accountable argument makes no sense.

Might want to check that they didnβt add βconsecutiveβ to the 22nd.

Dems should fight on every front.
If Texas steals 5 seats, Dem states should redistrict 30 GOP members out of their districts.
We should insist DOJ release the entire Epstein File.
Not only shouldn't we bring knives to a gun fight, if they bring pistols, we should bring machine guns.

The best chance of getting the GOP to want clean district drawing is to paste them with CA, NY and others going all blue. Gerrymandering is bad for democracy. One side doing it while the other doesn't is worse for democracy.

The time for arguing both sides is over. The GOP takes risks and have been rewarded with power. The Dems talk about risks, do nothing, and get rightly perceived as pussies. It's time for action, and that means taking some risks.
-
Sounds like you're arguing both sides.

Gerrymandering US Congressional seats in one state affects other states. He's not wrong that gerrymandering is bad. He's wrong that CA shouldn't do in response to TX. He should use his voice to advocate for a national standard.

New Bedford?
How did anyone get that idea?
