It sounds like they were really close, but couldn't quite get over a minor technical disagreement regarding whether Ukraine should be an independent sovereign country or an oblast of Russia.
Glad we all wasted our time on this and got Putin his photo-ops with POTUS under "Pursuing Peace" signs.

Letās wait to see if anything emerges from what was discussed. But on the face of it, Alaska is much as predicted. Putin has got exactly what he wanted, the legitimacy conferred by a Trump meeting and seeing off sanctions. He has given the US very little, if anything, in return.
