  1. The only people they consider to be their constituents are the billionaires and large corporations that pay them and fund their campaigns.

  2. You're giving them WAY too much credit. This was a reflexive response to the command from POTUS. I guessing very few of them gave actual thought to the health of democracy, the voices of their constituents, or how this further damages our ability to reach collective compromise.

  3. The only constituents Republicans serve are the ones who bribe them. This is becoming true of Democrats as well. Repeal Citizens United.

  4. Respectfully, you don't seem to appreciate the near impossibility of serving your constituents when you devote your every waking hour to serving your donors.

  5. Their chief duty is to be sure they continues to kiss Donny’s butt. We don’t want Donny upset.

    Can everyone say:

           SPINELESS

  6. They believe they are serving their "constituents" because they know their constituents are the far-right moneyed interests, not the people of Texas.

  7. My credo is that where there are no town halls or a plethora of constituent complaints about inadequate representation, there lies an area in which reapportionment is a necessity. Lots of those in CA and I hope these failures can be addressed soon.

  8. You’re assuming they actually want to serve their constituents. They don’t - they want to control them.

  9. Absolutely correct, but they haven’t worked for the people since Gregg Abbott, Ken Paxton, Ted Cruz, Dan Patrick and John Cronyn came into office. It started before them with George Bush and Rick Perry but it got really bad under Greg Abbott.

  10. You don't need gerrymandering if you have armed thugs freely roaming polling places knowing they won't face consequences. And you don't need it if you suspend elections altogether, which is the more likely situation

  11. The problem with that is that the Republican constituents are less than 1% of voters.

  12. Why would it? They serve moneyed interests first & foremost. I doubt they give much thought to their constituents unless they have to hold a town hall or their seat is up for election.

  14. "Thanks for coming to the annual Texas GOP rally. Let's review our 2026 options, shall we:

    1. Listen to the voters of Texas and change our policies and positions to fully represent their needs, positions, and desires.

    2. Rig the election.

    All in favor of #2....."

  15. That implies that they want to serve their constituents. You know, like a real republic, not a fascist regime.

  16. Oh, in Republican version of the issue: Repubs are supremely confident in their entitlement to do what will ever be the morally prudentially and administratively superior job for their constituents, whether their constituents know it or not

  17. Gerrymangering disenfranchises Americans. Today, the congressional map shows gerrymandered seats gained: Republicans: 22 Democrats: 7 "Both parties do it?" Yes & No.

  18. This is true of almost everything about their party. If their true beliefs and positions were popular, there would be no need to lie about them. No need to deny Project 2025 if it was supported by most of their constituents. They KNOW they are not even representing their own, let alone all of us.

  19. In the Republicans' minds its their constituents fault for not being true believes in the right-wing orthodoxy.

  20. I respectfully beg to differ…. They know, and know they can’t/won’t do a better job, and have no shame, so they HAVE to cheat (Sigh 😔)

  21. Gerrymandering is just a band-aid for failing to represent the people. If you actually served constituents, you wouldn’t need to rig the system.Politicians who govern well don’t have to cheat the map.Good governance beats gerrymandering every time.

  22. But the majority who vote for them don't seem to care about that. They are gerrymandering to help trump cause for some reason the majority of Texans will keep voting republican/

  23. Oh, now you are just being silly, Betty. Average voter swayed by triggers, wedge issues and effective albeit inaccurate marketing. And, we have to wait until economic realities bite us in the ass before we start to squeak.

  24. Or... they can keep making money at the expense of the suffering of others by maintaining power in order to support a broken ideology that looks at the lower class as pawns on a chessboard.

Working for others? The GOP says, "Preposterous!"

  25. About all Trump needed to do to win re-election in 2020 was express a little bit of empathy for all the sick and dying people.

They are all just hard wired like this.

  26. They wouldn’t have to gerrymander if they had a positive agenda to sell to their constituents. If they really believe in the big beautiful law, then they should be able to sell it to their constituents. A child sex offender with a But that’s where the problem is!

  27. They don't care about their constituents. Republicans are only interested in power, the citizens be damned.

  28. Garage sale in Mendota, IL Although it is a Trump supporting state Not all of them support him! The man said my cousin lives in Texas and said the governor is going crazy to kiss the ring! I said somebody needs to wheel that racist governor to Marafargo for good and leave him there! #MendotaIL

  29. It hasn’t. The GOP has ceased being an American political party and has become Nazi Party Lite. Their loyalty is to their fuehrer. A political party would be looking for ways to distance itself from an unpopular POTUS with unpopular policies. These A-holes are going to follow Trump off a cliff.

  30. Republicans in Texas: "Serve our constituents? What is that? What does that mean? What language are you speaking?"

    Assholes.

  31. 790+Million people across 44 Independent Sovereign Countries in Europe. Can have Socialised Health Care. But not 344+Million American Citizens. All because some Republicans think Europe is Communist. Potus trumpie has discovered the exact opposite. He lost €2.5 Trillion in a Military Arms deal. 🇮🇪🇪🇺

  32. I was also thinking that. With what they have been doing, it is a BIG assumption that even in the gerrymandered areas, they won't run into some pretty pissed off people willing to vote them out.

  33. Republicans in Texas, and pretty much everywhere else, have no desire to serve their constituents. They are there only to serve themselves.

    0
  34. I live in Texas where the appearance of effective governance is way better that actually doing it.

  35. They seem to Never have any real platform, it’s Always Fear, and War mongering and Gerrymandering 🤷🏼‍♀️ what’s their plan for the future, the everyday people, the environment, cost of living ………..🚫

  36. They have to cheat! 😡 it’s in their parties dna! Cheat like the leader does!!! I hate these republicans and you watch how quick they switch their tunes once Trump is found guilty of treason and shot! They will whimper and say they were following orders because they were scared 😱

  37. All their approvals are absolutely down the drain. It would be quite amazing if even with this stupid gerrymandering, democrats would win those seats because everybody it just this fed up and pissed off.

    0
  38. The problem is that serving their constituents is completely contrary to what Trump wants. So they have to choose, and they have.

    0
  39. Never crossed their minds! They’d have to give up their enslavement to the felonious psychopathic rapist to do that..

  40. Why would they try to make their citizen's lives better when they can just lie, cheat and steal?
