It probably hasn't occurred to Republicans in Texas that they wouldn't need to gerrymander if they just did a better job of serving their constituents.

What actually do the "we the people" part of the constitution? Nah baby! It's "Show me the money!"
-
The only people they consider to be their constituents are the billionaires and large corporations that pay them and fund their campaigns.
-
You're giving them WAY too much credit. This was a reflexive response to the command from POTUS. I guessing very few of them gave actual thought to the health of democracy, the voices of their constituents, or how this further damages our ability to reach collective compromise.
-
But they can’t be held to the same rules as everyone else 🤷♀️
-
"'Constituents'? Is that the stuff in white bread?"
-
Truth
-
Whaaatt??
-
Truth!
-
The only constituents Republicans serve are the ones who bribe them. This is becoming true of Democrats as well. Repeal Citizens United.
-
Respectfully, you don't seem to appreciate the near impossibility of serving your constituents when you devote your every waking hour to serving your donors.
-
Yeah. It’s like saying “Charles Manson could’ve been a helluva kindergarten teacher of only he’d..”. 😂
-
Their chief duty is to be sure they continues to kiss Donny’s butt. We don’t want Donny upset.
Can everyone say:
SPINELESS
-
They believe they are serving their "constituents" because they know their constituents are the far-right moneyed interests, not the people of Texas.
-
Wouldn’t it be great if they gerrymandered and still lost!
-
My credo is that where there are no town halls or a plethora of constituent complaints about inadequate representation, there lies an area in which reapportionment is a necessity. Lots of those in CA and I hope these failures can be addressed soon.
-
Texans don’t even understand where the word "gerrymandering"came from, and that it involves being slimy.
-
The simple solution…in theory
-
-
-
They do not serve...........They cheat!
-
You’re assuming they actually want to serve their constituents. They don’t - they want to control them.
-
Unfortunately they are not in that business. They don’t want to represent, they want to rule.
-
Absolutely correct, but they haven’t worked for the people since Gregg Abbott, Ken Paxton, Ted Cruz, Dan Patrick and John Cronyn came into office. It started before them with George Bush and Rick Perry but it got really bad under Greg Abbott.
-
You don't need gerrymandering if you have armed thugs freely roaming polling places knowing they won't face consequences. And you don't need it if you suspend elections altogether, which is the more likely situation
-
The problem with that is that the Republican constituents are less than 1% of voters.
-
They are too busy doing nothing and getting paid for it.
-
Why would it? They serve moneyed interests first & foremost. I doubt they give much thought to their constituents unless they have to hold a town hall or their seat is up for election.
-
Serving their constituents isn’t really in the Republican playbook.
-
-
But that would be work and certainly not profitable.
-
"Thanks for coming to the annual Texas GOP rally. Let's review our 2026 options, shall we:
Listen to the voters of Texas and change our policies and positions to fully represent their needs, positions, and desires.
Rig the election.
All in favor of #2....."
-
They serve one person .Trump
-
Oh, Betty. They don’t want to be of service. They want power.
-
Right!?!?
-
When they've spent decades taking advantage of their constituents such a thought is beyond comprehension.
-
That implies that they want to serve their constituents. You know, like a real republic, not a fascist regime.
-
-
That's what they had to do while they were building up enough power to do this.
-
But then they'd get less donations from lobbies and billionaires.
-
Oh, in Republican version of the issue: Repubs are supremely confident in their entitlement to do what will ever be the morally prudentially and administratively superior job for their constituents, whether their constituents know it or not
-
But they want to be able to own human beings
-
I'm pretty sure "serving their constituents" is not a phrase they know, or understand.
-
That’s would interfere with the hoarding of resources by the robber barons that own them.
-
It's easier to cheat than actually help anyone
-
Their intention is not to serve their constituents, but to serve themselves.
-
Well, let's be honest- serving their constituents has never been on their minds.
-
Serving constituents isn't even in the top 100 goals of Republicans in elected office.
-
Simple as that.
-
hard to do, when you don't give a shit about your constituents!
-
Gerrymangering disenfranchises Americans. Today, the congressional map shows gerrymandered seats gained: Republicans: 22 Democrats: 7 "Both parties do it?" Yes & No.
-
The only constituents they care about r the billionaire class
-
Too easy, doesn't leave room for racist hatred.
-
This is true of almost everything about their party. If their true beliefs and positions were popular, there would be no need to lie about them. No need to deny Project 2025 if it was supported by most of their constituents. They KNOW they are not even representing their own, let alone all of us.
-
Sadly, it probably has. They just don't GAF.
-
👍👍👍👍
-
They serve Dear Leader. And he only serves himself.
-
Would still vote straight blue.
-
Nah that's suspiciously like work - plebian😲🤣😂
-
In the Republicans' minds its their constituents fault for not being true believes in the right-wing orthodoxy.
-
It 100% would never occur to them.
-
Apparently, they believe cheating like hell is less work than doing the actual jobs.
-
Districts should be based on zip codes. Abolish the electoral college!
-
I respectfully beg to differ…. They know, and know they can’t/won’t do a better job, and have no shame, so they HAVE to cheat (Sigh 😔)
-
Does anyone NOT UNDERSTAND that the next people to be DISAPPEARED are the resisters.
-
Gerrymandering is just a band-aid for failing to represent the people. If you actually served constituents, you wouldn’t need to rig the system.Politicians who govern well don’t have to cheat the map.Good governance beats gerrymandering every time.
-
But the majority who vote for them don't seem to care about that. They are gerrymandering to help trump cause for some reason the majority of Texans will keep voting republican/
-
I mean this is the state that keeps electing Mr Flees to vacation at every disaster Cruz.
-
Every neighborhood needs to know.
-
That’s some dangerous thinking right there.
-
It hasn’t occurred to the constituents either
-
Oh, now you are just being silly, Betty. Average voter swayed by triggers, wedge issues and effective albeit inaccurate marketing. And, we have to wait until economic realities bite us in the ass before we start to squeak.
-
Or... they can keep making money at the expense of the suffering of others by maintaining power in order to support a broken ideology that looks at the lower class as pawns on a chessboard.
Working for others? The GOP says, "Preposterous!"
-
About all Trump needed to do to win re-election in 2020 was express a little bit of empathy for all the sick and dying people.
They are all just hard wired like this.
-
Republicans: Where's the profit in that?
-
They wouldn’t have to gerrymander if they had a positive agenda to sell to their constituents. If they really believe in the big beautiful law, then they should be able to sell it to their constituents. A child sex offender with a But that’s where the problem is!
-
They don't care about their constituents. Republicans are only interested in power, the citizens be damned.
-
They can't win on merit. So they cheat.
-
They're too fucking stupid and crooked.
-
Garage sale in Mendota, IL Although it is a Trump supporting state Not all of them support him! The man said my cousin lives in Texas and said the governor is going crazy to kiss the ring! I said somebody needs to wheel that racist governor to Marafargo for good and leave him there! #MendotaIL
-
They don't believe in serving their constituents. They believe in "personal responsibility" as they rake in $ from taxpayers and lobbyists. Lose the power grid? "You should have thought of that and been better prepared. Not on us!"
-
Group thinkers endlessly building up the walls of their own echo chamber.
-
All of their constituents, not just republican white men.
-
It has, but pleasing the big donors and the orange blob rank higher on their list of priorities.
-
Gasp!
-
tx #gop doesnt have constituents. it has cultists.
-
None of them sees themselves as 'serving' any more. They reign over you.
-
It probably has occurred to them, but they just don't give a shit.
-
It most assuredly has not.
-
The attitude of the super rich, if we don’t give it up freely just take it by any means necessary.
-
-
It hasn’t. The GOP has ceased being an American political party and has become Nazi Party Lite. Their loyalty is to their fuehrer. A political party would be looking for ways to distance itself from an unpopular POTUS with unpopular policies. These A-holes are going to follow Trump off a cliff.
-
-
Texas Republicans in office are angry because they're being denied their right to vote. Wonder if they see the irony?!!
-
It would never occur to them.
-
They don’t want to serve their voters. They serve their paymasters.
-
Republicans in Texas: "Serve our constituents? What is that? What does that mean? What language are you speaking?"
Assholes.
-
-
Way too much work involved to serve the citizens.
-
790+Million people across 44 Independent Sovereign Countries in Europe. Can have Socialised Health Care. But not 344+Million American Citizens. All because some Republicans think Europe is Communist. Potus trumpie has discovered the exact opposite. He lost €2.5 Trillion in a Military Arms deal. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
-
Woke.
-
It's not about serving anyone but #45
-
I was also thinking that. With what they have been doing, it is a BIG assumption that even in the gerrymandered areas, they won't run into some pretty pissed off people willing to vote them out.
-
-
Sure it did. It’s the whole reason they’re doing this.
-
Republicans in Texas, and pretty much everywhere else, have no desire to serve their constituents. They are there only to serve themselves.
-
Huh?! You act like serving the constituents was ever an option with the Republicans. Ha! They are as self-serving as anyone can possibly be!
-
True...what a concept!?
-
Be competent. Be fair. Govern from empathy. Be wise. Win elections.
-
They would serve their constituents to the cannibals.
-
They know, they just DON'T care
-
I live in Texas where the appearance of effective governance is way better that actually doing it.
-
Totally 💯 RepubliKKKans only know how to Cheat and Steal!!
-
That’s not part of their agenda.
-
Love this!
-
They seem to Never have any real platform, it’s Always Fear, and War mongering and Gerrymandering 🤷🏼♀️ what’s their plan for the future, the everyday people, the environment, cost of living ………..🚫
-
-
They have to cheat! 😡 it’s in their parties dna! Cheat like the leader does!!! I hate these republicans and you watch how quick they switch their tunes once Trump is found guilty of treason and shot! They will whimper and say they were following orders because they were scared 😱
-
They think their constituents are corporations.
-
Representing is for losers. Ruling is the name of the game. Allegedly.
-
All their approvals are absolutely down the drain. It would be quite amazing if even with this stupid gerrymandering, democrats would win those seats because everybody it just this fed up and pissed off.
-
The problem is that serving their constituents is completely contrary to what Trump wants. So they have to choose, and they have.
-
Never crossed their minds! They’d have to give up their enslavement to the felonious psychopathic rapist to do that..
-
They want to rule, not serve.
-
That’s a true fact
-
Or other states
-
Whoda thunk it eh lol
-
as if Missus. As IF...their constituents were the actual voters in Tx instead of the 1% that bribes their campaigns.
-
🤣🤣🤣 no
-
So they want more reps that won't actually represent. Sounds wrong somehow. 😕
-
And stop raping kids and sex trafficking
-
But if they did that, Democrats couldn't run on "hey, at least we aren't them"
-
Gods forbid.
-
"But I don't WANT to serve my constituents. I WANT to rig the election so I don't have to care!"
-
🎯
-
This isn’t about doing a better job, this is about preserving white dominance.
-
They ARE serving their constituents - the oligarchy.
-
They are serving their master.
-
They have no interest in serving their constituents
-
What and do their jobs? NO F'n way! That means working for those who don't have several million dollars to bribe them with...
-
Bullies. The lot of them.
-
Perhaps, but then how could they service the small handful of people lining their greedy Lil' pockets?
-
They have no interest in representing their constituents they just want to rule them.
-
Serving their constituents is the last thing they would want to do. Ever.
-
Betty! Perfect.
-
Why would they try to make their citizen's lives better when they can just lie, cheat and steal?
-
You shut your woman face with that perfectly sane logic!
-
TOTALLY AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The party that delivers universal healthcare will own all three branches of government for a generation
-
If only they gave a 💩about their constituents.
-
They don’t want to serve us they want to rule us.
-
This dictatorship needs removed like founders instructed.
-
It probably hasn't occurred to Republicans in Texas that their job was to serve their constituents, not kill everyone and spend taxpayer money on rape, vacations and kid fiddling, for a very long time.
-
My guess is they know what they are doing and are actively trying to rip off their people
-
Still waiting for it to backfire
-
They are over-gerrymandered already-Their plans just might backfire
-
But that means working. For your constituents. And that hard.
-
They’re not interested…it’s “what can I do for me”!
-
But they would have not motivation to do that, now would they?
