What happened to having the freedom to make my own healthcare decisions?

5 towns around mine. Every single one built a new school in the last 50 years on the edge of town.

oh I see what you're asking. answer is "political will" or lack thereof. everyone wants to keep their on-street car parking spaces.

Yes. Too far to walk. No protected bike lanes and often no sidewalks.

As towns grow, they need bigger schools and often look for sites away from the centers. In my area, new schools are on the edge.

While eyes are focused on Philly's transit catastrophe, there's also ominous news from Rhode Island.
Frequency on RIPTA's critical R Line will fall from 10 to 12 min on weekdays & 15 to 20 min on weekends. Practically asking frustrated riders to get a car.

I sympathize with your question, but schools are nowadays located far from anything, like mall sites, even in the northeast USA. Bus service often not offered.

I wish we didn't say "build" bus lanes because then it's a big capital project with consultants, multiple processeses, etc. We just need thought, paint and signs getting cars out of the way, tinkering with signal timing, and enforcement. See Manhattan's 14th Street Busway.

Here's Kingston, NY Stockade Uptown District. Maybe that's the goal? ;-(
