I feel stupid for taking so long to realize that part of why the elite loves Trump 2 in particular is because it is, even by the standards of Trump 1, ideologically pro-corruption
The future of MAGA belongs to whoever is able to keep both business/media elites on-side by promising to rein in the "excesses" of the regime while letting the base marinate in the knowledge that somewhere an immigrant is being brutalized. That's Rubio.

ICE has been caught looting and destroying property at Pittsburgh restaurants. They even tried to break into the safes. They loaded food, supplies and equipment into vehicles

- Sid Meier's Civilization: an absolute classic of game that I was obsessed with as a kid, and that there is absolutely no point in going back to because Civ 2 does everything it does, only much better.
