Did you even really see how bad it was? Yeah, kinda. But with no time to parse it out. No time to rationalize your brain out of being shocked. No adaptation.

I think we haven't seen enough "wtf?!?" with no reassuring, graspable explanation in recent films. That's a shame.

It's about THE BIG MONEY SCENES rather than letting the subtle nuances of the piece creeeeep under your skin.

It feels like, to some extent, that's a greater issue with films at large, that films just can't take their time anymore; it's all about the hurry hurry hurry w/o any resonance.

    Raiders has more resonance that Generic Action Flick #47, because it builds so much backstory. The ever-present action? Is somehow still an aside. There's no debating the excellence of the action scenes in Raiders, but all that is secondary to the story. The action? Is not the story.
