Full resignation letter from Demetre C. Daskalakis, a CDC leader, does not hold back. "The recent shooting at CDC is not why I am resigning. My grandfather, who I am named after, stood up to fascist forces in Greece and lost his life doing so. I am resigning to make him and his legacy proud."

We are in very dark times. Itâll take an entire political/social movement, an overwhelming rebuke at the polls, and a new vision of governance to unstick this country from whatever this collapse is.

This is the man who solved the monkeypox breakout and got all the gays vaccinated. Dude's a hero.
It wonât fit in screen shots but linking here the full letter of resignation posted by one of the departing CDC officials, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, who ran the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases and led efforts to fight COVID, monkeypox, and bird flu x.com/dr_demetre/s...

They can issue JOINT health guidance, they can buy up supplies of needed vaccines, etc... [just on the health front]. Hire all of the excellent people who are resigning.
I said this months ago but I really need a BLUE STATE COMPACT IMMEDIATELY. Bring together all health depts, all education depts, etc... under one umbrella. Collectivize guidance, ensure that disabled students get what they need, etc... An emergency meeting of all Blue State Governors is overdue.

Really not big on civic pride as a concept/it is definitely weaponized in service of power. But a little civic pride right now feels appropriate/necessary. The only way we'll get through is turning to one another rather than away
It just completely sucks to be waiting for a tsunami like this

Yes but how can we know if we support basic human dignity until we see some polling
Signs that Trumpâs policing surge is meeting resistance in DC
â grand juries refusing to issue indictments, an extraordinary rebuke
â magistrate judges criticizing arrests as a relying on âillegalâ tactics and lacking âbasic human dignityâ

D.C. judges and grand jurors push back on Trump policing surge
A federal magistrate judge said one arrest in D.C. was preceded by the âmost illegal search Iâve seen in my lifeâ and another lacked âbasic human dignity.â

fwiw people are calling this nullification and I donât think thatâs quite fair. they were charging a felony and he didnât commit a felony.
the grand jury did their job faithfully and well.
Federal prosecutors on Tuesday were unable to secure a felony assault indictment against a man who threw a sandwich at a federal agent on the streets of Washington this month, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Iâve chatted with some folks about this and the only conclusion weâve gotten too about basically alll Trump policy, is itâs not about the actual policy itself, they donât actually care (and canât understand it anyways).
They just wanna larp as the men who make stuff happen, the big deal makers
I kinda donât understand what Trump wants to do with the Fed. Lower rates obviously but just seems like high risk for marginally higher growth.

From NPR: When pressed ... [Trump] hedged, saying he may or may not send in federal troops to Chicago.
"I didn't get a request from the governor... And I think until I get that request from that guy, I'm not going to do anything about it."
