  1. What stops it is parochialism and the mind set that “you can’t play with my ball”. Let someone come forward with the vision and the charisma to pull this off. Quite who, I know not. I’d maybe venture Andy Burnham but I doubt he’d shake off his Labour roots. The Pecksniff task is to find that leader!

  2. If the “mainstream” is largely pro European, in favour of PR and wants to see public ownership of utilities, you’d think that this is an opportunity for a coalition of LD, SNP, Green, Plaid and the SDLP to get themselves together and sort out a way forward. Some Labour members would be attracted.

  3. My dear Pecksniff. One cringes at the attempts of “Your Party” to define itself. I invite you to picture the scene as Messrs Ali, Galloway and Corbyn meet to thrash out the detail. I don’t think the result would reflect the views of the “mainstream”, whatever that may now be.

  4. I note that Tariq Ali has “joined”. There will be no time for biscuits when they start to define policy. I think a bowl, filled with who knows what, stirring up “toil and trouble”. Meanwhile, Jeremy will contemplate his navel on the allotment while Zara will try to hold it together. What larks.

  5. It really is, it seems to me, the way to snooker Farage. As for Lowe, the man is clearly demented but, however you look at, more pro G Yarmouth than the previous incumbent and so has a following there. I suppose one must also refer to the Politburo. They will love having Galloway in “Your Party”.

  6. My dear, you have put the cat among the pigeons with this one. Does anyone have the money, the determination or the wit to put together what I described recently as the “Sensible Party”. A coalition of the willing, spanning a range of political views with a common denominator of rejoining the EU?

  7. I remember saying exactly this in about 1981 or whenever it was when the policy was introduced. Here in Norwich there is a large former council estate near the UEA that is almost exclusively student multi occupation housing. “Income”about £2-3k per month. No community left. I never prophesied that.

  8. I also note that one pundit has suggested that this Party will be pro European. Has anyone told Jeremy, I ask? If it is pro European, even for a day, it might be worth having a look at. Mind you, there would need to be a change of leadership. But then, as we Francophiles say “C’est La vie”.
