It can’t help but keep getting worse. We’re adding thousands more people to the planet on a daily basis. We’re going to destroy everything “we” love and then self-destruct.

I’ve been an ecologist for 40 years. We’ve lost nearly 80% of the planet’s wildlife in the last 50. The planet’s human population has more than doubled. Now there is microplastics and chemicals that aren’t mitigable. Untethering from reality is not something I can do.

Billions of starfish have literally melted to death in a decade — victims of a disease fueled by warming waters. Every species has a biological breaking point. Humans just pretend we don’t… yet.

Here’s a great piece by Jeff Corwin (yes, THAT Jeff Corwin) on how Congress is weakening protections for marine mammals. If they gut the ESA & MMPA, whales, dolphins, seals, and sea otters pay the price. Read it. Share it. Then speak up. Time to call your reps again! #MarineMammals #OceanHoptimism
Thousands of environmental extraction projects get rubber-stamped every year under the ESA — none are ever judged to seriously harm wildlife. If “jeopardy” can’t be found even as species collapse, the law is no longer protection — it’s permission to finish them off.
We saved elephant seals, sea otters from extinction. Congress puts that at risk. | Opinion
Congress is working on a proposal that would gut the Marine Mammal Protection Act and erase legal protections for dolphins, otters, seals and whales.

California relies on fossil gas for ~40% of its electricity, imports huge amounts of energy from out-of-state, and depends on mining, concrete, and habitat loss to “go renewable.” Ecological limits are real.

The truth will never dawn.

Since the “renewable revolution” began in 2010, CO₂ has climbed ~36 ppm — one of the fastest jumps in Earth’s history. Who needs results when you’ve got buzzwords like “transition” and “renewable?”
The Global Energy Shift Is Happening—Quietly but Surely | OilPrice.com
Political shifts and crises may dominate the headlines, and fossil fuel share may shrink only gradually. But behind the scenes, the energy transition is alive and winning.

It’s anger-inducing the way the timber industry has duped the public.
