  1. Everyone should read Anne Applebaum’s book ‘Gulag’. About 18 million people passed through the Soviet Gulag from 1929-1953 when Stalin died. Another 6-7 million ppl were exiled to remote regions. And ~4.5 million died either in the camps or as a direct result of imprisonment. Staggering numbers!

  2. Epstein case reminds me of when grand theft auto came out, release, followed by women upset cause U could hire prostitutes. 0 moral outrage about fucking killing. F STEIN ran a human trafficking ring. I hear don’t any outrage about that. Only outrage over children. Melania was trafficked!

  3. The problem is with this image, that Stalin killed over 10 millions people in USSR. So it's a bed joke to compare this things.

  4. stalin starved 5,000,000 Ukrainians to death. See The Holodomor. We won't get into all the other people he had murdered. Nazis and communists are both pieces of shit.

  5. There are sooo many things the US hates/fights/try to erase, to “liberate” people on the other side of the fucking globe, just to run back home where it’s even worse 😂

  6. In the US, in 2025, there will be a maximum of 0.54% of the total population in prisons. A simple fact check.

  7. Republicans should embrace its evolution & rebrand as the MAGAts. True Republicans, those who uphold a republic where power belongs to the people & their elected representatives, are a relic of the past. Today, they no longer exist. Stop calling them Republican, call them what they are MAGAts.

  8. Which is what ALL Dictatorships like the Trump government is doing. The difference between the extreme left/Stalinists and the far right(Hitler, Putin and Trump); the absence of CREMATORIUMS on extremist Left/Stalinist side. All work people to death, and ALL destroy any opposition with guns.

  9. Stalin didn't bother with imprisoning people. He would just send his minions to kill them.

  10. Stalin did manufacture a genocide and imprisoned thousands in gulags and slave labor camps for speaking out against him. I understand the comparison, but don't try to make it seem like life under Stalin was better.

  11. I do not believe these data, how can you know how many prisoners there are in a country? I am sure we do not know this for many countries.

  12. Alligator Alcatraz isn’t a prison; it’s a kennel with photovoltaic devices on roofs that will most certainly be blown away during the first hurricane 🧌

  13. Well said- and might I add with the new Auschwitz camp’s (oops I mean concentration camps - oops again- I mean detention centers) the numbers will rise even higher.

  14. Really speaks volumes about this country in the eyes of the world, that are told to hate

Meanwhile china has uplifted hundreds of millions from poverty, is investing hugely into the long term future and is the world leader in science, manufacturing, green energy and developing the third world..

  15. I was thinking that your numbers were skewed because the Soviets would rather kill you. That averages to 3.16M people killed per year during Stalins' regime or just under 2% of the total population.

  16. and what about stalin purge victims the 681,692 executions victims. you go spin this be USA bad . no matter how hard the yank make thing bad is not worst then the Nazi or comium did in europe that what every one who live under both system non of them say any thing bad to capitalism look at germany.

  17. Not true. More like .02%.

There are estimated to be more than 8 billion people in the world. 22% would be 1.76 billion people.

Total population of the U.S. is approximately 342 million.

Of that, approximately 1.8 million are in prison.

So not 22% of the world’s population. It’s just counting.

  18. I am a firm opponent of what the Trump administration is doing right now (and indeed, the problem of the large amount of prisoners in the US should be solved), though speaking as an American of Ukrainian and Belarusian descent, I don't think this is the best way of getting that message across...

  19. Just like to point out that the only action that worked against the newly forming Nazi Party was a general strike. Hitler feared a general strike so much he had union leaders killed ( after promising to support them)

General strike is a nuclear bomb to trumps administration. It’s the only way

  20. Yep. Top Contributors by Prison Population (approximate as of 2024): Total 10-11 million 🇺🇸 United States: ~2.1 million

🇨🇳 China: ~1.7 million (plus possibly hundreds of thousands in extrajudicial detention)

    🇧🇷 Brazil: ~830,000

    🇮🇳 India: ~550,000

    🇷🇺 Russia: ~420,000

  21. Last year I tried to read Gulag Archipelago. I didn’t get through the first chapter. It’s unremitting and unconnected tales of horror and torture. People just picked up at a bus stop or in a park and never seen again. The most depressing book I’ve ever picked up.

    off the American tax payer.

  23. There is NO freedom in America all citizens are prisoners here you don’t have to be in an actual cell to be a prisoner. This corrupt regime has made all of us prisoners & will continue to remove rights & freedoms to ensure maximum suffering for all especially those that stand up for what’s right.

    1
  24. Well, it's big business in America. Private prisons shouldn't exist! Clearly!

  25. The worst part almost to family, the people that worked the hardest for Stalin all got murdered by Stalin for following Stalin's orders. Then Stalin killed the people that did his killing. The Stalin again killed the people that worked the hardest for Stalin. And then killed those executioners too.

  27. The 14th amendment abolished Slavery except in the case of prison where prisoners could and can be used as slave labor. Many of the Fortune 500 companies take advantage of this cheap labor to maintain and increase their profits. This is why America’s prison population is the largest in the world.

  28. lol people who believe this have a stats interpretation problem. USA does have a prison complex problem- but it’s not the gulag…. Equalizing them is absurd.

  29. Trump is more like Stalin than Hitler. Hitler believed in the ideology behind his genocide. Stalin murdered people only because he wanted to stay in power at any cost.

  30. I just checked and it seems there are 1.8M people incarcerated in the US and 11.5M worldwide... So the US is 15% of the world prison population. Still very disproportionate to their 4.2% world population. Compare that to China- 17.2% of WP vs 14.7% Prison Population (roughly proportionate)

  31. The U.S. has high incarceration. But this meme is bullshit. Left lying is just as bad as right lying. Stop lying.

  32. 13th Amendment “poison pill” kept slavery alive in the USA. My State and others made the correction in our State level legality to remove slavery in all its forms. We need to remove institutionalized slavery from America, for example: (TexasAndMotorola), look it up. Texas still has slaves!

  33. Sad that we have con man, liar, corrupt, a cry baby, a guy who want to destroy the American economy, he cut office that most to protect the people, I wonder how many people will die, is so sad no one can stop him

  34. Hope this isn't true, but I would not be surprised. The US is not the US I've lived in for the last 69 years (give or take the last ten years).

  35. Heard is was 24%, if the Fascists win that will grow to 50% as if by sick and sad magic. Suggest we concentrate all of the prisoners in Texas. Apologies in advance to the prisoners.

  36. I believe Trump is more like Stalin than Hitler. The Russian killed millions of his own people and members of his inner circle. Putin. Trump. Our Supreme Court is being patterned on the Russian court.

This is kind of more of a commentary of the shit culture of America more than punitive control of people.

  38. Let's rethink how society creates sick citizens it locks up and blames the people. Like we are responsible for plastics in our food or pollutants in our water.

  39. So Stalin sent slightly less people to concentration camps without due process than the US has people in prisons. Is this your argument? Really? You shouldn't suck up for dictators no matter what they are cosplaying for.

  40. In 1953, the USSR held over 50% of the world’s prison population—2.6 million people. That was 1.44% of their population. Today’s U.S. rate is 0.57% with 1.9 million imprisoned. So still better than communism.Final score: USA 100 – USSR 0. Only thing the Soviets made well was cemeteries and concrete.

  41. Correction The United States holds nearly 25% of the world's prison population while only making up about 5% of the global population, According to Google.

American prisons are filled with people convicted of crimes according to the rule of law. the Gulags were filled with people kidnapped and slowly being murdered.

  43. The most apalling thing to me is that there are many PRIVATE PRISONS in America!!

Yes, private FOR PROFIT companies running prisons!!

    How fucking absurd!!!

There's a financial incentive to incarcerate MORE people and make the living conditions as poor (aka cheaply) as possible!

    WTAF!?!?!

  44. For all the problems of the US prison population, and I would never defend any nation holding so many people in prison, to compare it to the Soviet Gulags or to make light of the Soviet Gulags is in very bad taste. There even was on a different level.

  45. Vs 4% of global population. A complete disgrace by a deeply racist country.

  46. Our jails and prison are knowingly loaded with the innocent and mentally ill and it’s deliberately designed. M. A. G. A. has never been and never will. That’s not too say that America is full of awesome good people. But currently the bad of our country are feeling strong. But this will pass.

  49. It was eyeopening to realize that the American right-wing hates Stalin specifically because he defeated Hitler. That must've infuriated Hoover, who realized he'd have to destroy socialism domestically before he could destroy it internationally. And so his tool McCarthy.

  50. Also under Stalin, estimates of 3 to 9 million people dead for disagreeing with Stalin or put into famine conditions to move ethnic Russians in their place... so I guess your point about the US is correct because Soviets just simply killed the people instead of putting them in jail.

    1
  51. Honestly, more impactful if you add in the fact that the country's population is only 4.2% of the world's. So, <5% of the global population but >20% of the prison population. Oof.

    0
  52. Not just 22%, we imprison more people than any country on Earth including China, who has four times the population we have.

We convict far too many people and have sentences that are far too long. I don't need a guy who embezzled a million bucks from his company to spend 25 years in San Quentin.
