I think there is also a lot of British stuff in there, references to British sitcoms of the 70s for example. All available through an internet search I suppose 😊

I wanted our boys to watch some of the films we loved so that they would know what we were on about when we said stuff like"an offer he couldn't refuse" or "don't call me Shirley" or "these are not the drones you are looking for' etc

I was never afraid of any of the stories. My oma told me that some children were terrified.

The trouble is that lots of the jokes won't make sense without the cultural knowledge. The plots are still great but they won't get the full thing that we get from being of his generation

Oh my goodness no, I can't imagine young girls loving the enid blyton private girls school books that I loved. But maybe I am wrong. Maybe they would love them for the escapism as I did. Something real different from my own life
