So a trans man has to use the women’s toilet by law, but is also allowed to barred from the women’s toilet by law. How the fuck does that even make sense. Transphobia is so fucking ridiculous.

"A trans man might be excluded from the women-only service if the service provider decides that, because he presents as a man, other service users could reasonably object to his presence, and it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim to exclude him".

  1. It make sense in that they believe trans people should basically be EXCLUDED from existing. That's their ultimate goal. Their intermediate goal is that trans people should not be allowed to exist in public spaces.

  2. This is exactly the problem we pointed out when people first started proposing bathroom laws. So now to use any bathroom, you have to just not be trans or even have an appearance that other people could perceive as trans, and even then, you might also have to carry your birth certificate with you.

  3. This is awful in and of itself, point blank. But also for the idea that civil rights should be removed so as not to cause "alarm". What an absurdly low bar. What else could cause these thin-skinned losers to feel "alarm"? Disability? Race? Punk hair? My T-shirt?

  4. The aim is to exclude trans people from public life, just as the ghouls tried to for women and non white people decades ago. Same shit now we just have iPhones and ChatGPT. After years of saying "never again" we have learnt fuck all

  5. British media created a stigma through propaganda. Now they decide those people burdened with reactions resulting from the propaganda must be barred because of reactions. So they can’t use bathrooms. You could potentially do this with any characteristic. But only the Nazis did it exactly this way.

  6. It's not even limited to trans men, because the justification for banning them is that they "present as a man" in their appearance. So a cis woman could be barred from using the toilet if she has short hair, no makeup, and wears masculine clothing.

  7. The guidance clearly discriminates against the protected characteristic of transgender. Either it will be successfully challenged in court & withdrawn or it'll be upheld & the Equality Act will be effectively meaningless

  8. The point is to eliminate trans people from public presence.

I'm an old white cishet dude - ask some women - but from what I know this was exactly the situation women faced in the 19th and early 20th century.

Without public restrooms you either had a really good control of your bladder or ...

  9. I’m going to check with our union rep next week on their stance if our employer follows this guidance. We do have some gender neutral loos, but why should anyone be excluded from the correct loo for them. We also have trans and non binary people. I stand firmly with them.

  11. Sorry, you’re too trans for this bathroom and you’re not cis enough to use the other bathroom either. Guess you just have to shit on yourself in public for the safety of transphobes.
