In order for him to have the judgement stayed so he could appeal the verdict, Trump had to post a bond worth more than 100% of the judgement ($91.6 MIL). He did that in March of 2024. It's held in escrow until the appeals process is completed. The courts will release it to Carroll if he loses.

The money is already held by the courts. Once appeals have been exhausted the money will be distributed.
