I cannot tell you how many "I listen at 2-3x speed" people I've encountered on social media who also don't know half of what happened in the book they just finished, and frequently miss anything not surface level because they didn't have time to process the words.
I know it's a minority of folks who do this but it also feels inevitable after years of:
- listening to a book while not paying attention and then complaining they don't understand something
- only skimming the dialogue and skipping the rest
- wanting chapter summaries before deciding to read them
