Completing Sword of The Sea was a bittersweet play this evening. It was beautiful, but the knowledge of how Giant Squid laid off developers and artists who worked on the game not even a weekend into its release makes me desperately sad.
Game studios now are essentially a c-suite team who plug and play with people's lives. Artists, writers, programmers, testers, all of them are viewed as disposable parts to a vast shell of money.

People spend literal years of their lives on these projects, huge creative endeavors that rely deeply on the people building them, they deserve more than the compensation they earned while building the project.
