  1. Hey Republicans we found your death panels. They have been there all along. They're the private health insurance companies that line your campaign chests with millions of dollars. It wasn't the government. They should be abolished and replaced with a national healthcare system.

    0
  2. Why? They own your entire political machine. Even if any consequences are brought to bear, it'll be a nothing slap on the wrist like it was with the opioid crises. Those companies were 'held accountable' with hundreds of millions in fines, when they made BILLIONS doing this to us.

    More of that?

  10. This type of thing definitely delayed the nursing homes acting on symptoms. I had to initiate several transfers to hospital myself due to inaction by staff.

  11. We have a healthcare system in this country that is unique in all the world! It has no patients!

    Only customers.

  12. So much corruption! Everywhere, or so it seems! When did people quit believing in right and wrong?

Yall are corrupt as fuck bought and paid for, and took their money to make loopholes so it was legal for them to slaughter us like serial killers and loot the corpses.

  16. My brother was at a nursing home for a bit. That said oh my there was like 4 aides on the floor to a 400 room facility that was full. 3 nurses at that time. Was a weekend and the air conditioner was broken. My brother had to call me and I went over, kept asking why his room was super hot(Texas).

  19. What is the list of all possible, profitable crimes UHC and nursing homes could do vs. what they do?

Have they maximized the level of crime, or is much worse available through Trump and his crime syndicate?

  20. It's frustrating because people have very little power to confront Insurance companies. It's not like we can boycott our health insurance that is provided by employers. The intertwining of employers and health insurance has doomed healthcare in the US.

  21. There are perverse incentives to making health insurance for profit. Some things like prisons, police, healthcare and a few other things should never be for profit. It leads to immoral and dangerous outcomes

  22. So Luigi is in jail for killing one corrupt CEO who’s company is likely responsible for many more deaths of grandmas and grandpas! Seems like Luigi should be getting a parade!

The problem is to have enough evidence to indict them. Without that, this is just a talking point. How's the lawsuit on Steward Healthcare (Ex) CEO doing?

  25. Our older loved ones get the worst care in their “golden years.” Not much $$ in being a geriatric Dr. And not much knowledge of geriatric needs in the rest. Pharmaceutical companies have been corrupt forever. My kids’ pediatrician said they paid $10,000/yr to drs that wrote “name brand only” Rxs.

  28. While morally this is wrong, it’s bound to happen in a for profit healthcare system because economically it makes sense. Until healthcare answers to patients and not shareholders look for more of this type of thing to happen. Especially once the BBB goes into effect.

  29. Maybe that's why my g/f came back from a outpatient Hosp after insertion of a pacemaker. She couldn't talk or move (CVA?) the nursing home never sent her back to the hosp for re-evaluation. She lingered until she died couple of weeks later in the nursing home. 70 yrs old.

There will be no middle class in Trump's new US. Future is grim.

  31. One of my accounts is nursing homes, I service their data networks and phone systems. I see what happens behind the scenes and after hours. The things I've seen, residents in wheelchairs lined up in the hall quietly saying "help" ignored. I will blow my brains out first then ever be housed in one.

  32. UHC is bad news for health care. My friend, on Medicare, fell and broke a hip. UCH denied any post surgery physical therapy. Really UHC? We did not forget your motto: deny, delay, defend.

  33. Health care is sick. Peoples lives are just a dollar sign. We need universal healthcare. We need to take our lives back.

    0
  34. We need Universal Health Care because there are way too many crooks in the private healthcare industries.

  35. Oh! That explains why our administrator would never let us send really sick pts to the ER. "Let's just treat them here."

  36. Not surprised. When profits drive decisions, this is the logical outcome. Corruption and greed seem to be winning in the USA - our priorities are so messed up.

  38. Stop the charade. To act like the government is functioning "normally" is an insult to thinking people.

Your ACTION help confirm Rubio. What are you doing to ensure an interference free mid term?

Better yet, be honest. It ain't happening & you are just pathetically warbling nonsense. Resign.

  39. Not to diminish the importance of this issue, but the Democratic Party should be singularly focused on one thing - stopping MAGA’s takeover of the US Government. Yes, businesses are corrupt. Yes, we need healthcare reform. Sadly, though, none of that matters if we don’t have a functioning democracy.

  40. Healthcare should not be provided by corporations that have to show constant growth or die. Because they're NOT going to die ... They're going to keep growing by letting their patients die.

  42. All the insurers try to do this. They want patients evaluated onsite with transfers limited. Good performance is rewarded with preferred nursing home status, etc.

  48. The corporate greed is phenomenal! They obviously have the money, instead of using it to help people, using it for good, they spend it on killing people. What is the difference between these corporate decisions versus what Luigi allegedly did, except Luigi (allegedly) was direct and only killed 1?

  49. Am an 83 y/o widow living in a county where my annual income is rated as "poverty level." Some 10% of my income covers medical insurance. My deceased husband was a médecin généraliste in France. French citizens enjoy inexpensive medical coverage/care that is rated as the best in the world.

  50. Bless you both and thank you for working and fighting for hat is right. You two are the WW Free! Free us from the corruption within the corporate sectors. Why can’t we get rid of Citizens United? Even when dems had control we didnt get it done….why?

  51. It has to do with rehospitalization being a disincentive by CMS. Even if patient's illness progression warrants hospital treatment and it not being caused by poor care. Check incentives in CMS policies.

  52. Great we left BCBS for their lousy bedside manner and because the state moved all their employees over, now this comes out!? Wee literally aren't finding much in this countries healthcare systems to be very human friendly!? Mentally and physically health people are more productive and happy!

  53. We need a non profit system. In order to afford long term care, assisted care and memory care(you need a fortune) they rake every penny of that persons’ money. When that person runs out of money, they kick that person to a place that accepts medicaid. That poor person ends up “spending down”-0!

    0
  54. It has been known for over 3 months.

United should have undergone scrutiny when they posted losses to their profits earlier in the year and blamed it on their acquisitions of smaller companies with substantial medicare plans.

The writing was on the wall. In large print, to boot.

  55. Healthcare in the U.S. is rife with corruption, hence it delivers the worst outcomes despite being the most expensive of all developed countries. It would help to rebuild trust in our gov’t if Dems would recognize it, run on it, & commit to it.

  56. I am 83. This country couldn't care less about old people. They just simply do not care. My greatest fear is ending up in a nursing home. I'm doing everything in my power to stay in my little house here in Denver. I pray every day, that I can stay. #SeniorsDoNotMatter

  57. Any nursing home that would put the whole community+staff at risk, for a BUCK, are also criminals

  58. Honestly, this is what you do best. You have a plan of your own making, a checklist of the prioitized points of action, and people to see. On a state level, you are a master at getting sh*t done. Please keep going. We are counting on you.

  59. Of course they would want to keep elderly out of the hospital. Just the trip back & forth in an ambulance would be $7k. A two or 3 day stay would be $45k! What co. wouldn’t want to save $50k-$60k dollars? Home insurance co.’s won’t pay fire claims now & is the Insurance com. investigating in CA?

  60. Begin by eliminating United Healthcare as a GEHA provider. Current and former government employees deserve better. Johns Hopkins doesn’t want anything to do with UH anymore .

    0
  61. Hmmmm… That move probably didn’t make the area hospitals happy. I saw the opposite practice when I worked at a hospital in the 80s. Whenever the hospital’s census was too low, they would go to the nursing homes and find people that could be admitted to the hospital for extra care.

    0
  62. Just FYI, that started with Medicare refusing to pay for rehospitalizations. Medicare Advantage plans have to adhere to many of the same rules….

    1
  63. Profiting on the misery, suffering and death of your fellow citizens is amoral. We are the only industrialized country where medical costs are the greatest reason for bankruptcy. We spend more per capita than any other nation on healthcare and yet, do not cover all people. This has got to end.

    0
  64. My 77 yo mother-in-law had a terrible fall. Broke her femur, knee and both sides of her ankle on left leg. Broken ankle and torn thigh tendon on her right leg.

Her husband saw a commercial promoting the "extra benefits" in Medicare Advantage with UH. Changed their Medicare insurance to it.

  65. Nothing will fix our healthcare, and nothing will truly make Americans more healthy, then national healthcare.

We are stuck in the middle ages while the rest of our economic peers have moved way beyond us

    1
  66. This is how you ‘fix wrongs’…NOT by walking up behind a CEO and shooting him in the back.

  67. Nothing they would do surprises me. They disallowed my DIL’s epidural in April BEFORE her delivery

  68. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT ALL THIS BS GOING ON WITH THE REPUBLICANS AND THE PEDOPHILE IN CHIEF?

DO SOMETHING ABOUT HIM AND THEM ALREADY!

    0
  69. You can ask questions of this administration until you are blue in the face, but they will not answer. MAGA has the reins to this wagon and has no intention of handing them over if we ask within the constraints of the laws. We’ll have to grab the reins & wrench them out of their tiny fascist hands.

    0
  70. Pressing for answers? BWWAAHAHAHAHAHA!! Look in the mirror and you'll see who murdered the elderly.

    0
  71. Well yeah. Cause share holders, which you should know all about, considering you are one of them.

If you really care? You'll drop your stocks and advocate for the rest of every political figure to do the same.

No more stock exchange involved with politics, yes?

    0
  72. Because of course they did. Late stage capitalism is nothing but squeezing out the last drops of profit they can find to maintain or increase their stock value. They are doing what the rules of capitalism say they must. As long as Healthcare is a for-profit system, this will only get worse.

  73. I told my kid last month that I've made a sound decision that if I become so old or disabled that assisted living is necessary, I will commit suicide. I do not trust people not to steal my meds or otherwise abuse me in any way. I would rather die.
