It’s also been my experience that most progressive urbanites don’t actively obsesses about rural places enough to make fun of them (unless they’re in the news for something ridiculous). Urban progressives mostly don’t even think about rural areas at all.

The thing is people don’t really dump on rural communities anymore unless they’re in the news for doing something ridiculous. The “inbreeding/trailer park/eating roadkill” kind of humor is lame & old. The way most urban ppl relate to rural areas is actually more not even thinking about them at all.
know how it sucks when your fox-addled grandparents out in the sticks say your home city is a dump and plagued by nonexistent riots and crime?
in that same vein, a good rule of thumb is you don’t get to dump on a rural community unless you’re from/live there.
