  1. "No one is fighting Trump except Newsom."

MILLIONS of people across the country, elected and not, are fighting Trump EVERY DAY, from feeding people to providing free healthcare to pro bono litigation to organizing.

What you mean is YOU aren't fighting Trump.

    Posting isn't fighting.

  2. Until today, I don't think I've seen "I asked ChatGPT" on this site used earnestly. It's so unexpected. It's like someone saying "A horse walks into a bar" and then telling a true story about a horse who killed 2 people when it somehow got into a bar and started freaking out and kicking everyone.

  3. My job as a professor is not to create a serviceable worker. My job is to help foster thoughtful citizens or community members.

If that sounds fanciful it’s bc corporate interests have spent decades framing how we talk about education so they don’t take the heat for immiserating labor conditions.

Do not accept the premise that education is to blame for abysmal jobs outcomes.

“The fantasy economy's framing of economic inequality… focuses exclusively on education…deflects attention away from decades of public policies and changing business practices that have…contributed to stagnating wages”

  4. 'Eureka!'

I had a lightbulb moment and captured the street's reflection in a garden ornament.

    Happy Monday my friends!

The image depicts a close-up, abstract view of a clear, pear-shaped glass object, likely a light bulb or a decorative glass vessel, with a vibrant reflection within it. The glass surface shows subtle iridescent hues, particularly a prominent blue and purple shimmer at the bottom. Inside the glass, thin, dark, wire-like strands of filaments are visible, seemingly entangled or arranged in a loose pattern.
The most striking feature is the detailed reflection captured within the glass, which appears to be a street scene at either sunrise or sunset. The reflection shows a row of buildings, possibly houses or shops, illuminated by warm, golden light, suggesting a low sun angle. A vehicle, likely a car, is visible in the foreground of the reflection, and there are what appear to be power lines or utility poles against the sky. The sky in the reflection transitions from a bright yellow or orange near the horizon to a lighter blue higher up. The overall background of the image outside the glass object is dark and out of focus, emphasising the central glass element and its internal reflection.

  5. "I'm devastated," said Joslin, who is trans and uses they/them pronouns. "We don't take our positions in the park service to make money or to have any kind of huge career gains. We take it because we love the places that we work. I have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, and I could be making a lot more money in Silicon Valley, which is only a few hours away, but I made career choices to position myself in Yosemite National Park, because this is the place that I love the most."

NEW: I spoke to SJ Joslin, a park ranger and wildlife biologist who was fired by Yosemite National Park last week for helping to raise a transgender pride flag on the park's iconic El Capitan rock face.

    For @nbcnews.com: www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-...

The ex-ranger said they plan to fight the decision, citing an executive order issued by President Trump that protects Americans’ free speech rights.

The problem is, like with immigration, instead of saying “actually, that’s not a problem”

Democrats agree with the fascist framing and then propose half measure solutions, leading people to just vote for the reactionary party

They help produce these crime and immigration narratives they lose on

Here's the thing: If you believe that Republicans can always win on crime by simply declaring there to be a crime emergency in a major city, irrespective of any actual policing or criminal justice policies being pursued by the city government, then you are just saying that Democrats can't win.

  7. WOW. @marcelias.bsky.social goes off on the failures of legacy media: "We have an absolute collapse and failure by the institutions that have promised us that democracy would not die in darkness, that in fact, they stand for the proposition that democracy will die in plain sight of daylight."

  8. Way too many Liberals think making and sharing AI memes is "resistance".

It's not resistance. It's compliance. Every time you use AI for some entertainment bullshit you're lining the pockets of the oligarchs who support Trump. You are passively supporting Trump with your AI slop.

    Do the work.
