I know it's hard to talk yourself out of a slump, but you should remember that 41 isn't actually that old. You've only been in control of your life for 20 years. With a good wind you've still got more time at the wheel ahead of you then behind. I'm 36, and this is how I cope

Also, to make a serious point, $30 million is actually a lot of money for a non Disney/Pixar or DreamWorks animation? Wolfwalkers, a hand drawn 2D animation, cost half of that!

A kid's film existing doesn't guarantee that it's going to be successful. Just look at The Bad Guys 2. Unless of course a large part of that $30m is relentless marketing - but when your product looks like every other AI "cute" slop thing out there, I'm not sure it will cut through the noise.

It's cynical but I'm really scared that most people don't care, or don't realise that it was that small interactions (a chat with the bookshop owner) and moments (you might see a dog!) that filled little gaps in our lives and created that sense of living in a community.

I do live in London though, so the streets still feel pretty lively and pleasant. My home town is dead as fuck. I was back there the other week and suggested walking into town, my brother simply said "why? There's nothing there." He's not wrong. Unless you love vaping.

I can only speak personally, but I've pretty much given up on shopping online for anything but clothes (because I'm 6'6 - so going to clothes shops just results in me being disappointed and short-sleeved). Amazon is flooded with cheap crap and I've found a lot of joy in walking to the shops.

100%. Chronologically it's a bit different to the original series but it's a much more cohesive story in this format and feels less dated than there original anime (which I do love). I'd recommend the anime OVA as well, but it only adapts a small section of the manga.
