The president responded to a question about the child sex traffickers by going off on an extended tirade about former President Obama.
same thing happened with LA. a lot of political observers seem to think we are in a perpetual November 2024.
We spend days agonizing about how Trump is tapping into some secret silent majority when it turns out a good chunk of the country knows crazy when they see it.
And, I would add to this it is a political theory opposed to American visions of sovereignty, which assert that democratic power is dispersed, as is indicated by the statutory authority of the Smithsonian, which literally distributes power as a trust between the three branches of government.
again, what is interesting to me about this stuff — beyond the obvious fact that what trump wants is propaganda — is that it is grounded in a political theory which holds trump to be the sovereign will of the nation, who can impose his demands on every aspect of the nation's society
the thing everyone is going to have to accept is that the post-trump period, whenever it comes, will not and cannot be a project of national unity, it must be a project of partisan project of renewal, in the same way that reconstruction and the new deal were partisan projects of renewal.

Trump will, most likely, sloppily arrest a lot of people, & disappear a lot of unhoused people, claiming he "solved crime" (but it will all be security theater)
