  1. He should know better. The same people crowing about sports want to invalidate his marriage and take his adopted children away. They don't have valid or legitimate points, they're just bigots using a wedge issue to attack the entire LGBTQ community and strip us of our rights.

  2. He doesn’t have the will to stand up for the things he knows are right. So that’s not going to work.

  3. I'm not voting for anyone who was in the Biden Administration and I don't give a fuck who it is... no one in the Biden Administration is getting my vote. Democracy and civil rights were lost on their watch while they were busy bombing brown people. I'll save my vote for the likes of AOC or Pritzker.

  4. Pete is a pragmatist. He knows it's stupid to die on the hill of protecting the 8 trans women who want to play college sports while we're living in a dictatorship. If we never get our Democracy back, trans kids will have much, much, bigger problems than not being able to play sports.

  5. Apply that to the democratic party as a whole they're genocidal fascists too the lesser evil bit is just pr

  6. not an excuse, but casual observation:

for some strange reason most people lazily believe they are just drag queens ie "men in dresses"

refuse to grasp concept of physically transitioned?

but also obvious everyone declaring policy on athletes that are transgender/DSD

has never known a single one

  7. Really? A next GOP government might actually disappear trans people or force them to live contrary to their gender… Pete has concerns about trans women in sports. But yeah don’t vote for the Democrat in the general. This strategy worked really well for some Palestinian Americans.

  8. This is like if the kid who watched you get your ass kicked by the school bully told you afterwards that if you just vote for him for class president he'll protect you. Nevermind that he had a million chances and failed. Nevermind that earlier he had said that the bully kinda had a point.

  9. Men are born with more bone mass, larger frames and more muscle.

Should a trans woman step into a ring with a biological woman for contact sports?

Should a trans man step into the ring with a biological man for contact sports?

Pete is anti-trans because he sees the obvious danger?

  10. I agree he is a big no to me this shows cowardice and blatant opportunism, he is situating himself as the Democrats that are not far apart from MAGA

  11. I will never vote for a transphobic Democrat ever! they can die. The party can wither away to nothing before I vote for a transphobic Democrat if this is where the Democrats want to take the party, they can die with it. I won't vote for it.

  12. Imo he's right. Trans women don't belong in women's sports. The GOP wanted to make this into a voting issue bc they knew it would be divisive & they knew Ds would take the bait.

In their zealousness to be inclusive & fair, Ds ironically are being unfair to female athletes.

  13. You throw minorities under the bus, and then you get outraged that you lost minoritie´s support. Apparently, any center-right party.

  16. Playing political calculus with the rights of a group of people should tell you all you need to know about a candidate.

Everyone gets rights. Everyone is equal. If they're not, then you don't actually care about rights.

  17. 🤣 the dude thinks he is being taken seriously because they just hate trans more than they hate gays… once the bigots are done with trans people… gay are next 🤣 this is so basic… I can’t believe I had to post about it

    0
  18. I'll vote for him if it's him or one of the MAGA crew, but I've never been impressed with him. He always seemed like the sort who would agree with whatever makes him look best for a presidential run.

    0
  19. No, we DON'T have to take everyone seriously - there are MORE THAN A FEW of "everyone" screaming about losing a gold medal by tying 5th place with a trans swimmer or about how unfair it was for a trans woman to race in her category in a marathon - not that she placed ANYWHERE near first, BUT STILL

    1
  20. What exactly is our position on trans women in sports? What do we want to get out of this debate?

    3
  21. Ugh. He moved to Michigan recently and I'm worried he's gonna muck about and take away publicity for better candidates around here.

  22. To be real, this is how we ended up with Trump (and what is waiting in the wings is likely worst, more systematized, better funded, more tech driven). It's important to have bright lines...agree, but this is how they do it. They fragment voting sets on single issues & even fractures in those issues.

    0
  23. Honestly, he’s just not even that appealing. Flatlined with black and brown voters. Chose to chill with the dumbest of the dumb podcast bros of Flagrant. Goes on low-quality content farm YouTube channels like Jubilee.

Everything about him is forced. No passion. He will fade into obscurity.

    0
  24. Real question, if the general election was between Trump/JD Vance and Pete you wouldn’t vote for Pete? You know if Trump gets elected again.. that’s the end of Trans people all together. That’s the end of what’s left of democracy. Trans and Gay people will have to relocate to a different country.

    2
  25. it betrays an extreme weakness. its so easy to NOT fight on conservative terms. if you're getting dogwalked by bigots on children's sports, you're showing you're willing to be led by the nose on every other issue. next president needs to be imprisoning these people, not reading their substacks

    0
  26. Idk why anyone follows him. His firing of his police chief for obvious reasons of racism was nail in the coffin for me.

  27. This guy will never win a primary so we may as well move on to discussing how no future Dem admin should ever give this schmuck a pity job ever again.

    1
  28. Feels very weird to draw a single, deeply personal line when gestures at everything.

He's wrong about this, but we just did this and they're kidnapping people in the street.

Do you suppose Pete would kidnap people in the street? Is that a worthy thing to try to avoid?

    3
  29. Either everyone has human rights or no one does. Moderates willing to compromise on the rights of any group proves that they don’t really stand for anything. Moral relativism is cowardice. One must never concede & say “reasonable point” when debating monsters who want to exterminate a group. #GFY

  30. Cool. I hope you’re prepared for the more awful of two options, and for all that entails for everyone.

    Enjoy your goddamned privilege.

    6
  31. He always seemed like a Biden light to me. Clearly people are tired of the establishment. Buttigieg is still an establishment Democrat even if he is married to a man.

    0
  32. Cisgender Supremacist #TransphobicPete rather defend nazi pervert parents who want to make genital inspections normal. The same Nazis who cheer and laugh when 🧊 kidnaps and physically assaults immigrants and US Citizens then throw’s them in horrid concentration camps. 彼はカス

  33. I am so sick of both this becoming the mainline dem view + the odious liberal response of "ugh enough purity tests!" when it's people's civil rights

  34. Gay men are generally the least likely to have the backs of other LGBT. It’s stupid, because it endangers their rights in the long run

  35. pxtl.ca profile picture

This is intensely disappointing. I've always respected him as one of the most charismatic and reasonable members of the Democratic party.

He's a gay man and a father - he should know better. It is intensely disappointing to see him throw trans people under the bus.

    1
  36. disapointed Pete......but then again gay men seem to dislike trans people. Despite it was one of us that stood up to the cops at stonewall while the Pete's of the world were sipping their pink gins. Fuck You.

  37. The equivocation from the left is so infuriating! So sick of the party being dragged by the tail through “issues” that the right has manufactured to stir up social discomfit. This wasn’t a problem when “no one” cared about women’s sports and now that it’s here, it’s clear that “no one” still does.

  38. I will support who I think is the best candidate through the process. At the end of the race I will vote democratic down the ticket regardless of who made the ticket. In a two party system any other vote is a vote for conservatives. The US needs a multi party system but until then it is what it is.

    0
  39. Yes, because the unwavering support of trans people is working so well. We lose with regularity.

Kamala saying she supports using taxpayer dollars so PRISONERS can transition hurt her badly - like it or not, that hurt her badly

"Keep on keeping on while we lose" is not a winning strategy

    1
  40. All of his interviews over the last 6 months have left me wondering what people actually ever saw in him. He’s a Centrist poster child. And now this? Yeah, no.

    0
  41. Buttigieg is an excellent political candidate and leader. His sentiment is valid. Forcing this perspective on the various communities around the US as though it's as clear of a situation as the civil rights movement is narrowminded. You can't get everything. Grow up.

    5
  42. you claim to be anti-fascist, yet you post shit like this? Name the perfect candidate. Maybe do something useful, run for office yourself? Or just sit at a laptop and pontificate woe is me woe is us???

I want to support Harvard, but not soulless droids like you.

    0
  43. Buttigieg, Harris, Booker, Schumer, Jefferies, Pelosi, Klobuchar, Newsome, and many others I haven't named, are all status quo managers/servants of capital and were never worthy of our votes. It's imperative that we primary these barely human slugs and get them out of office.

  44. This whole trans issue really sucks. I don't like discrimination, but I also don't like how less than 1% of the population is being used as a wedge for so many.

Lose your 1 vote and the small minority that agree with you versus losing millions of votes for people who simply do not understand. 🤔

    1
  45. Liberals will demand we vote against our own wishes and still claim to be the defenders of democracy lol

    0
  46. buttigieg's records aren't good in 2020 presidential run. I would not support him either

    1
  47. To leave it in the hands of communities etc is a Conservative approach. With equal rights it shouldn't be left to communities or states, like with abortion now. And both him and Newsom seem to be giving power to the bs spun by the right.

    0
  48. We know it's over when we're letting Aaron Parnas have any sort of important roles like interviewing a potential nominee.

He's a fucking zionist who deserves nothing and Pete is capitulating & throwing his allies under the bus.

    0
  49. Shame on him! Not a single bigot raising a stink about this issue actually cares one iota about women's sports and they definitely aren't going to vote for him, a gay man. :/

    0
  50. The correct answer to this is.. "HOW IS THIS EVEN AN "ISSUE?" There are 5 or less trans female NCAA athletes out of 510,000 athletes. This is a snipe hunt, a with hunt and not a real issue."

    0
  51. He could have substantially saved this by adding something like "and let's bring science and facts back into the conversation". A few simple words to pull back on the GOP strategy..

(But those would be too bold in the current Dem climate? One wonders ...)

    0
  52. I really hope the greatest lesson all us Dem voters have learned is we need to run for offices everywhere, then organize with each other so efficiently the GOP won't be able to keep up.

    0
  53. They should just make all sports co-ed. I can’t fucking stand sports, it’s like watching paint dry, but I’d watch co-ed sports, for whatever reason I think it’d be interesting. For ppl who say women would get hurt playing against men, it’s just part of sports, the injuries. 🤷‍♀️

    2
  54. “I think in order to bring people together on this, we also have to take everyone seriously."

    Nope nope and NOPE

I am tired of lending “good faith” to bigots

    No more “just asking questions”

Trans rights are human rights and if you can’t say that, FUCK YOU

    0
  55. I agree with you in principle and think Pete is kind of Republican Lite (pretty much all mainstream Dems are TBH) - but if the only realistic choice was between Pete and some fascist Trump clone, I would still vote for Pete. I just hope it doesn't come down to that.

    1
  56. They learn nothing.

"...in order to “bring people together” on the issue, Democrats “need to take everyone seriously.” "

    Except trans people, of course.

    1
  57. People who think others should vote for candidates that entertain the rhetoric of their oppressors would never argue that if it was their own ox being gored. It's just privilege and treating existential issues for others as if they are all just academic exercises.

    0
  58. And that’s how we end up with FOTUS 3.0. I’m an ally. I have a trans young adult. I have a Pan YA. But they & I also get the need for AFAB to have a fair chance in athletics. Even hormones that decrease their muscle mass doesn’t wipe out all the advantages of AMAB. This is not black & white or easy.

    0
  59. Sadly this is how we got to a Trump presidency...twice. Fight him in primaries, fight to change candidates across the board, but come election day it is a binary - Republicans or Democrats. The US system has no 3rd option. Here in Canada we do and can force minority power where no one had full power

    4
  60. @esqueer.net Why we have to #CancelPete besides the redline of not supporting a #TransphobicBigot it sends a strong message that no other Dem politician will even think about throwing trans children 🧒 under the bus for a generation 🤔 We are literally fighting for the lives of Trans people.

ALT: a purple dinosaur from barney says i think you learned something very important
    0
  61. #TransphobicBigotPete is canceling Trans children and misgendering trans girls 👧 as 🧒 boys - an action which puts trans children in danger ⚠️! #TrumpButtigieg2028 #Terfs4Pete #Transphobes4Pete 👍 #GreenParty 😉

  62. PB has always been the “moderate” type MLK Jr warned about

PB advances himself via excusing, protecting, & sustaining racism, bigotry, & greed

    1
  63. Meretricious Pete's message to all those dozens of rightwing voters he thinks he can persuade: "I may well be a Sodomite, but at least I'm a safe Sodomite."

    1
  64. We play sport for fun, exercise, and community. Should trans kids have equal access to these? Yes.

But in America, sports are a social sorting system, a microcosm of a racist, misogynist, cuttthroat society. Sports is how they indoctrinate a whole sick ideology.

Often, sports are just child abuse.

    0
  65. How do we leave this jackass a voicemail telling him what an ungrateful cocksucker he is for throwing under the bus the very same people who started throwing bricks at stonewall?

    0
  66. It's the same old song, time and time again.

“People surely are not racist, they just have legitimate concerns”

“People are not homophobic, they just have …”

“People are not transphobic, they just …”

    Not surprising. Disappointing nonetheless.

    1
  67. funny how he's not sitting down to talk with the people who want to destroy his marriage. he's not out here taking seriously the reactionaries calling to take his child away. curious, that.

    0
  68. If he's the nominee for any high office ever again I will actually do what liberals have wrongfully accused me of in the past to screw him over in an election. I'd join a Russian troll farm to keep him from being elected, lol.

    0
  69. If its not trans people, itd be some other group. Allowing them to scapegoat any minority & being OK with it is bot acceptable. It shouldnt matter who that minority group is.

He was once the scapegoated minority. He shouldnt be OK with using another group as the scapegoat.

    0
  70. Is it already time for people to yell at a trans person in a deep blue state for not endorsing a presidential candidate who supports the erosion of trans rights three years before an election again?

    0
  71. Why is it that we always want to bring people together by taking the abusers concerns seriously? No Democrat ever says "to come together we need to take the victims seriously" they just want us to feel empathy and sympathize with people who hate and are scared of us. But not the other way around.

    1
  72. Yep, he's over for me. Gotta love every time this comes up with centrist Dems they consequentially misgender all trans people too. "Parents are wondering if my little girl is competing with a man." Fuck you, Pete.

    3
  73. Luckily Buttigieg can’t run for anything because Black voters hate him (rightfully so).

I want a democrat president who won’t include Buttigieg/Newsom in their cabinet so their political futures are dead. AOC seems like the best choice for that 😊

    0
  74. I believe in honesty and kindness, but when push goes to shove, honesty is more important. I want transgender people to be treated with the respect they deserve. Also, a transgender person may have a biological physical advantage. What's the solution? I don't know. But acknowledging it isn't wrong.

    1
  75. Yep, we have the Constitution, three branches of government and Nazis running the government and kidnapping people, Putin connection to Trump, and who plays a game of sports is what matters?

    0
  76. I stopped trusting cisgay Dems to not throw us under the bus to get votes YEARS ago. Dems only pretend to like us during Pride month to look progressive to one set of voters while stabbing us in the back to appeal to the other set. Pete Buttheadgreg is just the latest quisling to sell us out.

    0
  77. This is so sad to see from him. Before this I had such high hopes for him but it’s a red line for me as well. And even if it wasn’t, selling out trans people is not even a winning strategy!

    0
  78. Fairness in sports is complicated even before involving trans athletes in the conversation IMO. I think you can still advocate for trans people while acknowledging that. I don’t see a problem with trans athletes competing where they feel comfortable, but I can’t fault anyone for having concerns.

    1
  79. Sure it must be better to have Trump in perpetuity rather than vote for a Democrat. After all I’m sure the Republican position on trans issues is much more sound.

    4
  80. "Since I can't get what I want, I'm going to force others to suffer too. Alligator Alcatraz just isn't horrible enough."

It just screams leftie white privilege to me. This selfish thinking is why Gaza is about to get annexed, and why Trans people were banned from the military :)

    This is you:

    2
  81. Ive nothing but compassion for LGBQT folks. They’ve a right to be treated with dignity. But I agree with Pete B on fairness in sport. Organized gender segregated sports are unfair prima facia. Maybe we should have baseball teams for those who wear glasses, or basketball for only those under 5’10”.

    0
  82. As ever, if an anti-trans candidate was TRULY perfect on every other issue, then I’d have a tough decision to make.

But abandoning trans people is almost always a symptom of a deeper indifference to the plight of the vulnerable and willingness to sacrifice them. We deserve better

    1
  83. Voting shouldn't be thought of as an endorsement. It's the ability to give the country a small nudge in one direction or the other. You can choose to nudge it closer to where you want it to be. Or you can not bother and leave the decision up to others.

    1
  84. Pete could have used his access to Republican ears to educate people on trans issues but instead opted for validating transphobic hysterics and patting them on the head.

    0
  85. Let's parse for a second the common defense: "He's just trying to get more votes, trans ppl should calm down, he'll be better than a republican"

In what goddamn world does "go with what will most likely get votes"

    logically arrive

    at

    Pete FUCKING Buttigieg!?!?

    1
  86. He's trying to capitalize on redhats who are waffling on their cult, showing they don't have to align to vote D. It's short-sighted, because without the electoral college and gerrymandering, there are more of us than them, and we won't stand for transphobia. That old moderate playbook is obsolete.

    0
  87. It's not a question of fairness. It's who will bear the burden of the unfairness - cis girls or trans girls. I think that's all he's saying.

    5
  88. This is akin to Obama's "evolution" on gay marriage when it was clear that the US was ready to move forward. Trans athletes has never been a real issue and will never be a real issue because literally no one cares other than bigots and 5th place swim meet finishers.

    0
  89. I support trans kids 100%. I’d die on a battlefield protecting them. That stated, I also think this is a fair discussion point. Perhaps we just need some open gender leagues where there are simply no classifications of kids. It’s a tough one but easy pickings for psychos to expand the cult with.

    3
  90. I am reminded of a 1948 movie “State of the Union” where the lead is corrupted by the need to win at any cost. The excuse being he will do hood once he gets there

    Different century. Same bullshit
