somewhere on YouTube there’s an old clip of the band doing “six kids of mine” live in the 90s and the audience losing their minds and singing along and hanging on the band like it’s a hardcore show it is glorious

this to me is the ultimate scg album. when someone asks “who were these guys and what were they doing that made everybody so interested” you send them dante’s and if you’re truly lucky you get to see their reaction in real time

there is a hilarious amount of podcasts out there that just explain tiktok shit to the middle aged

This. "Vote blue no matter who" is such transparently a ratchet-tactic. It is not deployed thoughtfully as a strategy to build power. It is deployed to cajole people to accept a further and further rightward drift in the name of "pragmatism," and AGAINST any attempt at leftward movement.
Note how blue no matter who is near exclusively used to support bigoted right leaning candidates while that energy disappears when a more socialist leaning candidate like Mamdani does well.

what it should be is a wake up call that they've based their "culture" entirely on ephemera but we all know how they feel about not sleepwalking through absolutely everything

it's more like they want to be able to fantasize freely about people you couldn't pay them to stand near. if there's anything the gop is fighting for, it's having a set fantasy of what live in this country is SUPPOSED to be like and then constantly measuring the tangible against that fantasy

it's like that country song about a date night at applebee's. much like the average country fan's experience with rural living, I don't think anyone who loves that song would ever actually take a date to applebee's unless they were LOOKING to get broken up with

lately gop culture politics seem to be about specific elements of your life's background you've grown passively attached to as some kind of landmark. whether they go to CB and what they think of the food pales in comparison to the microsecond of glee from recognizing a restaurant when driving past

appropriate! I was about to call them a simulacra of noise rock but I thought that was too much even for me
