  1. the other thing is i have just run out of sympathy for these people. "how could i have known that this was bad for me?" i don't know, use your brain.

  2. It's the crowd that "does their own research", which usually means they've trusted quacks posting on FB instead of listening to scientific experts. Until the turn of the 19th century most people died of infectious disease. Humanity has experienced a miracle since then, because of public health.

  3. While you're at it, sue RFK Jr. He's been a big advocate of consuming raw milk.

Also, while you're at it, what about accepting responsibility for your own stupid descisions?

  4. Her poor choices are not our emergency. Sorry about her baby, but take some damn personal responsibility.

    1
  5. Maybe because you're also not dumb enough to think raw milk is a great idea

    0
  6. i will wager her obstetrician would never have advised her decision to consume raw milk while pregnant. what ever happened to personal responsibility?? suddenly everybody is a victim

  7. “I demand payment for both my neglectful ignorant parenting and also because everyone else is responsible for my choices.”

  8. Or what if, wait for it, OUR GOVERNMENT REGULATED DAIRY PRODUCERS AND OUTLAWED THE SALE OF RAW MILK.

You know, like a food regulatory agency would do in most of the countries IN THE WORLD.

  9. This is why education is important…suing because you’re a moron is, I guess, the American way….

  10. I don’t understand, you don’t feed children Raw pork, Raw Chicken or Beef , why would someone choose to feed them Raw Milk?

    0
  11. JFC they tell you not to eat cold cuts or soft cheese when pregnant; there is zero chance this woman didn’t know on some level what she was doing was dangerous. She just thought those rules were other people.

  12. I guess it depends on the consumer protection laws in her home state.

Even if some are willing to take breath-taking risks, they are entitled to consumer protections per the law.

The bigger issue, imo anyway, is the magical thinking promoted by the trump admin has clear death-murder intent.

  13. These people who drink raw milk need to visit a farm with milk cows where they can see the muck the cows' udders are rubbing in. Contaminated straw, urine, feces. Although farmers have ways to clean the udders, there is going to be a breakthrough. jr. is a Monster.

  14. The dairy said it was for animals. I don't know if it was "wink wink" for animals, but they did have disclaimers.

    0
  15. Unfortunate. I’m sure she has regrets but her lawsuit against the dairy is misplaced. She should sue herself for being so ignorant. Raw milk… is unpasteurized. Hope she has some time now to study up and learn about bacteria, and Louis Pasteur’s scientific breakthrough that has saved so many lives.

    1
  16. If the dairy failed to label the product appropriately, with warnings regarding the risks of drinking "raw milk," they deserve to be sued out of existence.

  17. There is a lot of rubbish talked about raw milk but surely you would read about it before ingesting it, especially if you were pregnant? What an awful loss. I really loathe the charlatans who peddle this crap information. :-(

  18. maybe Bobby Jr. can pay tribute to the deceased fetus and ease the psychic pain of the mother...

  19. What tf do these people think 'raw milk' IS?!

Ffs, they're all the 'I didn't know the face-eating leopards I voted for would eat MY face' meme.

    0
  20. I understand her desire to find a place to lay blame. Trauma does weird things to reason. Doesn't make the claim valid, but I get it.

And yes, this was her choice. If the product was as advertised and not tainted or spoiled..the dairy has no real liability here.

    0
  21. No, it was her decision. Fucking she should’ve done the research. Idiot fucking probably voted for Trump and listens to RFK Junior, too.

    0
  22. Yeah. I mean c'mon, the dairy should have done something to kill the harmful bacteria in the milk, instead of doing nothing and charging more for it as they do.

You know, maybe something like the process that French dude, Luis Pasteur invented back in the 1860s.

    Just a thought.

  23. This is one of those stories that you can just tell is framed the way it is because the victim is white. If she were any other color we’d either not be hearing the story, or if we did, the framing would almost certainly not be sympathetic to the mother.

    1
  24. "I'm the idiot who killed my fetus and nearly killed my toddler and made myself sick because in addition to poor judgment I also have poor hygiene and it's SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT"

    1
  25. So she never heard of pasteurized milk? Was she homeschooled? What surprises me is that a lawyer was stupid enough to take her case. I hope she goes in front of a jury because that decision will take less time that it takes to sit everyone back down. The farm should ask her to pay the legal bills.

    1
  26. My wife and I had a long discussion on this; I place 10x more culpability on the farm, the store, and the lax regulations. But she also opted to give her family something labeled “not for human consumption”. Wife pointed out how many people are scientifically illiterate, and truly did not know risk🤷🏻‍♂️

    4
  27. Why do people think milk gets pasteurized? To kill most, but not all bacteria! She decided to listen to the lunatics. It’s her own fault.

    0
  28. Ah ha! Perhaps if we start recommending raw milk as an abortifacient we could get the right wing idiots all up in arms? This is why we have labels on products, though it's never a guarantee.

    0
  29. HAVE WE NOT ALL MADE some POOR DECISIONS IN OUR LIVES???? Yes we have::this woman is suffering..have some compassion...

  30. Florida law on raw milk. Not legal to sell for human consumption but legal to sell as pet food. She needs to be suing the state unless the dairy farmer didn't label their milk www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/r...

It can be found at multiple farmers markets in Miami-Dade and Broward, with signs clearly marking it's not for human consumption.

It's illegal in Florida to sell raw milk for human consumption, but why are more people drinking it?

  31. Hey! I remember the true story of an american driver of a house car who thought the car would go by itself while he went away from the controls to make a sandwich and predictable crashed. But he sued the company b/c it was not in the instructions(!) And won(!!!)

  33. Agree. Also blame on right wing Talk radio and podcasts for allowing nudders like RFK to spread their lies and poison.

    0
  34. She's the one who made the decision to drink it. Yup, throw out this lawsuit. People don't take personal responsibility anymore. Plus we talked about raw milk and jfk Jr. a lot.

    1
  35. She's suing the wrong party. It's Ladapo and Kennedy she needs to go after. Will she prevail? Doesn't matter. They don't need, don't want, but deserve the publicity.

    0
  36. Was it marketed and sold in a way that made it seem like it was a product for humans? If so then the stores and the dairy bear a measure of responsibility, and going after them seems like a more effective way to stop this than convincing every nut to change their minds

    1
  37. In most states it would be thrown out in an instant. But in Floriduh? Who knows.

    0
  38. This reads like that libertarian/common sense anger at the person burned by hot McDonald’s coffee. There’s a lot not sympathetic about this person but we are so bad at being a society these days we can’t assume they “should’ve” known not to drink this milk if it’s being sold with a wink.

    3
  39. It’s almost like there should be consumer protections enforced by the government to ensure that this doesn’t happen…

    3
  40. Based on FL law, she should be prosecuted for murder. Fuck these stupid people, pay the price they set for Black Americans

    0
  41. Her supporters claim it is a way to hold raw milk industry to account. The “health food” store lied about the law (only legal for animals). She, of course, ignorantly bought into propaganda. Plenty of blame to go around.

    0
  42. For every grifting nitwit there’s a greedy lawyer. These “did their own research “ fools should not get one dime.

    2
  43. I'm weirdly ok with this. The regime has destroyed SO. MANY. things that used to protect us, but as long as litigous Americans sue every time they're harmed by something, there will still be SOME accountability...

    1
  44. I can see the argument that she was playing with fire by having it around at all, but all the same it still disturbs me how many journalists and pundits have shared this while stating she consumed the milk when the story they're sharing makes it very clear she didn't.

    0
  45. Why? Because you can. There is a long track record of juries siding with injured "victims," even if the injury is substantially self-inflicted and the evidence that the plaintiff was unaware of the consequences of their actions is flimsy.

In FL, however, this case might not gain traction.

    1
  46. Beyond fucking stupid and the # of dumbfuck parents giving this to their children is fucking abuse.

    0
  47. I see for the purposes of this story-she lost the "fetus'" How is it that she's not been arrested or under investigation for loss of the "baby?"

    1
  48. Interesting comments. I didn't know that "raw milk" was one of their things, but that tracks. Pasteurization is bad like vaccines...🙄 If this happened bc she threw common sense out the window and followed her cult...or to abort the baby, (also suggested) it's on her. Sure she had Dr advice not taken

    1
  49. I broke my foot carrying laundry down the stairs of my apartment building. The guy across the hall from me, immediately suggested I sue the landlord. I replied 'Why? Because I'm a dork?'. Also, what kind of lawyer would take a losing case like this? (jk, I know)

    0
  50. IMO, this is a good thing, actually; absent laws against it places still should be unwilling to sell raw milk due to potential liability. Also according to this story the store basically lied to her about it.

    1
  51. Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo wrote Tuesday, “Floridians have the freedom to make informed health choices. I support the decision to consume raw milk when sought for potential health benefits and protective factors. Be aware of your source and know the risks.”

    This motherfucker here . .

  52. Just the beginning of fatalities thanks to RFKjr, his buddies and people who don’t do research

    1
  53. just wait til the anti-vax folks and their kids start droppin' dead from diseases they could have been safe from.

    2
  54. This is in Florida - I would not be surprised if she was charged with murder. Then again, they'd have to acknowledge that drinking raw milk is dangerous in order to charge her for knowingly drinking a dangerous substance. Either way, she is dumb and should not have kids.

    0
  55. I'm having a difficult time conjuring up a lot of sympathy for people who ignore facts, science, common sense and blame others for the consequences.

    1
  56. she wasn’t drinking the milk she was giving it to her 2yr old who became so ill was hospitalized, she caught the bacteria from cleaning up the vomit & such from that child, of the reported cases in FL just under half are kids under 10-the milk is labeled as ‘for consumption only by animals’

    1
    1. She didn't drink it herself, was infected secondhand via toddler
    2. Her toddler is having ongoing complications, requiring surgery
    3. Toddler not included in suit

I think this lawsuit is also a CYA due to FL abortion laws

    0
  57. And if the suit is successful, they'll be scared (or forced by insurance companies) into only selling something called pasteurized milk.

  58. Half a country made up of total morons...

The US is not what it once pretended to be:

    An advanced nation.

  59. She should be suing RFK Jr. Seriously, why does the generic brain damaged Temu Kennedy have to be the only one that survived..

    0
  60. Legal liability for companies selling raw milk is a good thing, even if their customers should know better. If this kind of thing makes dairies think twice before selling it in the future I'll take it.

    1
  61. Nope. But neither do I have any sympathy for the farm trying to turn a profit by selling it. Stupid people making stupid decisions all around. They can have each other.
