Doing my best to keep spirits high and blood pressure low. I don't mind animals but 0 pets & 0 plans to get any. I think I'll be working forever, so just as well I like my work, even if I sometimes hate my job. Enjoying the silence but also enjoy a chat.

Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 talking about the ATC problem yesterday, wailing "WHY does it always happen when people are going on holiday?"

Similarly, when a computer enthusiast and/or gamer happens upon a computer they can instantly log in and make it do whatever they need it to. With computers irl, there's surely still an element of being in someone else's kitchen, having to spend time working out where everything is & how it works?

always having to look her best no matter how she feels; always risking ruining her clothes with chemicals & colours; listening to clients' boring, sometimes traumatic, stories with sympathy & understanding. It's an art. It's hard work.

I have the utmost respect for my hairdresser: on her feet all day; always smiling & pleasant; always diplomatic as customers demand the latest celebrity cut/style even if it clearly won't suit them; fielding "HOW much?" complaints from those who don't understand overheads or liability insurance...
