Senator Bill Cassidy’s vote secured the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy jr. He’s now issued a brief statement faintly calling Kennedy’s destruction of vaccine research “unfortunate”

Tweet from Cassidy: It is unfortunate that the Secretary just canceled a half a billion worth of work, wasting the money which is already invested. He has also conceded to China an important technology needed to combat cancer and infectious disease. President Trump wants to Make America Healthy Again and Make America Great Again. This works against both of President Trump’s goals.

  1. Recycling this: Some R Senators are cultists and long ago gave up their soul. Some are just stupid. Some are greedy & will do anything for $. Some are Libertarians that subscribe to "drown in a bathtub". But Cassidy meets the "full knowledge" requirement for sin. Don't know how he can sleep at night

  2. I emailed him a few weeks ago and asked him if he stood by his RFK JR’s nomination and he said Kennedy was working for the American people. To that I say “for what- to kill and maim our children and ourselves”? He of course welcomed my future comments at any time. Bullshit!

  3. Sen Bill Cassidy: Why did you confirm RFK Jr? It’s not like you weren’t told he was unfit for the job!

  4. Go pound salt Bill Cassidy. You could have saved the people of the USA from this. Instead you gave in because u r afraid of losing your senate seat or possibly your family being threatened. You r a coward!!

  5. Bill Cassidy and hia family should never receive medical treatment again in the US

  6. Unfortunate is when a glass slips out of your hand. A fucking tragedy is what actually happened when you voted for someone who was clearly unqualified knowing he would get a lot of people killed and set science back years, if not decades.

  7. I honestly don't understand how people can have the ego necessary to attain this level of power and then not the desire to use it.

  8. President Trump’s slogans should not be mistaken for his goals. His goal is to enrich himself and exercise power at the expense of Americans and American values. Can we stop repeating lies as if pointing out the contradiction will make them go away? Trump wants to destroy America.

  9. Stubbing one’s toe is unfortunate.

Getting a parking ticket is unfortunate.

Breaking your phone’s screen is unfortunate.

Marrying Hannibal Lecter because you enjoy his home-cooked meals is a choice, Bill. An evil one.

  10. What is the point of electing a physician to the US Senate who so willingly betrays his professional oath to "do not harm?" RFK Jr's appointment will cause lasting harm to the entire nation. Cassidy bears as much responsibility for this as anyone. Spare us the crocodile tears, Senator.

  11. Who could have guessed that the guy who has spent his life railing against vaccines would pursue policies exactly aligned with that...

  12. Had the not so good doctor preserved a shred of integrity he could have blocked confirmation and prevented this disaster. On the other hand, he could be Roger Marshall.

  13. That’s conservatives, Republicans for you. Always talking out of both sides of their mouths, always playing both sides of the fence, always flip flopping, always joking, always lying. They’re incorrigible.

  14. I want to throttle than man. He’s a disgrace as a Senator and responsible for violating his sacred oath to do no harm. That is unforgivable.

  15. Bill Cassidy is purely a COWARD & he'll forever be responsible for the deaths resulting from RFK Jr's insane destruction of our U.S. #BiomedicalResearch enterprise & our federal #PublicHealth agencies. Cassidy willingly/knowingly put a dangerous kook at the helm of #HHS when he didn't have to do it!

  16. Before the orange demagogue's 1st term, lesser developed countries had a choice who to trust to support their development; the stability of American democracy or the stability of Chinese communism. For those countries spurning dictatorships, the choice was obvious. Now they have one choice, China!

  17. And he decries it only because some money was already spent so it’s wasteful….not because of the wasted promise of what that research could have produced.

  18. What’s unfortunate is that Bill Cassidy is a liar, and doesn’t honor the oath he took as a doctor to do no harm. It is not true that Trump cares about making America great again, or healthy again. Bill Cassidy and the Repub party have blood on their hands. May God forgive their black souls.

  19. "I didn't know for sure whether to trust RFK Jr. when voting on his confirmation, but Susan Collins said not to be concerned."

    • Sen. Bill Cassidy

  21. Will Bill and his family seek standard of care best practice medicine outside of the US? Too bad a majority of his constituents are not wealthy enough to travel outside the U.S. for safe effective medical care that had been available here before Bill Cassidy voted for Trump's unqualified nominee.

  22. Fuck bill cassidy even after everyone has forgotten his sad role in this fascist play. Chicken shit.

Way to go Senator - U am sure your tweet will change RFKs mind. Only chance you have is to convince Trump of the economic gain China will have by beating the US in health technology.

  24. I have never felt the strong yearning to be able to time travel as much as I do in this exact moment, so that I could travel forward and piss on his grave.

  25. Just a guess but "faint" and "unfortunate" and "destruction" are going to loom large pretty soon if the trajectory of the current policy plays out the way it seems to be going.

  26. My grandmother would never say that someone wasn't pretty. She would say, "She has an unfortunate face". I'm not saying that Bill Cassidy is stupid but he does have an unfortunate intellect.

  27. I call sen Cassidy on a regular basis. He took an oath as a Dr to “ first do no harm” & he breaks that oath every day he’s in ofc. He gave RFK jr a pass bc he didn’t want to go against trump. His constituents & the people who will suffer or die be damn. That’s who he is, a power hungry Senator

  28. "First, do no harm." - the Hippocratic oath

"Aye." – Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (Meek and Docile), voting to put a brain-damaged heroin addict in charge of the nation's health infrastructure

  29. But Cassidy's not bothered by RFK Jr lying to him to get his vote? How weak.

  30. If you’re not going to spend every waking hour shepherding a successful impeachment effort, then respectfully, shut up and sit down Senator.

  31. With so much being recorded for posterity, the shame that will be carried by so many family names is going to be incredibly broad and deep. So many people will know their father, grandfather, great-grandfather, etc was a coward through and through, and nothing else.

  32. "unfortunate"

No. Totally predictable and 100% avoidable, but republicans are subservient to trump and confirmed his ridiculously unqualified picks.

  33. Yes. Unfortunate that the first vaccine for pancreatic cancer will come from China and not the US (where research at MSK was progressing well). That's a Chinese patent and Chinese jobs. The Senator is making it fairly clear that being economically competitive is not an American priority.

  34. Trump and Kennedy are trying to cull the herd. If we aren't healthy, we are supposed to die. It's Hitler-style eugenics. If we "live a healthy life style" we aren't supposed to need the miracle of modern medicine. If we have medical issues, it's supposedly because we didn't live a healthy lifestyle.

  35. Sorry but you blew it. You knew intelligently what was right but you caved to trump. You can say whatever you want to rationalize your blunder but it’s too late. You blew it and you have to live with your misjudgment. You probably don’t even care.

  36. Goddammit, Kennedy, can't you even muster a "SAD!"? What else are you spending your time doing, not curing cancer even harder?

    0
  37. Yes, unnecessary death of innocents is always such an unfortunate occurrence. That is in Chapter 1 , 1 st year medical school. Remember that old oath we all took at graduation, but Bill didn't take the Hypocratic Oath - he took the HYPOCRITE OATH.

  38. c'mon, john bel edwards, get in the race!

louisiana magapubs are still mad at cassidy for voting to impeach trump & 3 are already primarying him.

bel edwards won a 2nd term as gov despite trump aggressively campaigning against him.

solid job dealing w/hurricanes, budget shortfall, covid.

  39. Actually this totally supports Donald Trump's plan for America and Bill Cassidy can go f*** himself

  40. Cassidy shares some of the blame for RFK, Jr's terrible decisions. The doctor voted to confirm the vaccine denier. Way to go, Doc.

  41. Let’s all call him and demand he take concrete steps as HELP committee chairman to hold RFK jr accountable, and hold himself to the commitments he made the country when he gave his vote away to RFK jr
