The least defensible and most misleading headline was ITV News: "Clashes as asylum protests erupt across the UK"

My review of Jet2, because nothing beats a Jet2 holiday.

What should I know about flying with Jet2 Airlines?
Nicholas Stone's answer: I have flown with Jet2 airlines. For a low cost airline, I was rather impressed. The flight was punctual, I had a row to myself, the staff were friendly and the airports were ...

This is outstanding. God knows what Labour is doing: legitimising the racism that'll be its undoing, losing the coalition which put it in office, trying to secure voters who will never support it, digging its own moral grave.

Let’s be honest here: they were hoping the anti-refugee protests turned ugly because then there would be sexy telegenic violence. The reason that the progressive protests aren’t news is because they don’t. Which shows the warped priorities of our tv news coverage and is not a great signal to send.
I don’t want to be too shrill about this but I think the BBC, ITV and Sky have disgraced themselves in their coverage of the anti-refugee protests. A massive failure of judgement. But now we know the next time a progressive protest “isn’t news” that it’s nothing to do with numbers

Excellent thread from @zingherpolisci.bsky.social on the outlook for Trump.
It seems that Trump is already as unpopular as Biden was late in his term. The country was deeply pessimistic about the future in Nov 2024 and wanted a change, but swapping Trump for Biden did little shift this underlying pessimism. Trump promised a better standard of living but hasn't delivered. 1x

This is just getting ridiculous. Nothing that has happened (or is reported below the headline to have happened) this weekend remotely justifies talk of an explosion or mass protests. The media are confecting a crisis, and, in some sections of it, hoping to provoke one. 1/3
