  1. They want a Civil War. Destroying the hands that feed them is insane! 10 provider States economies will tank! Without all that $ the 10 red States that get way more than they have ever contributed die off and become Refugees. Wake up MAGA.

  2. Republicans don't give a shit. They do whatever the fuck they want, with or without democrats. The Republicans will find a way to fire the democrats, just like the boss who fired an employee who walked out on his job. I'm sure they have assholes thinking shit up as I type this reply.

  3. This is so insane right now. The Republican Party is so drunk with power they will do anything to keep it.

  4. And THIS is how you start to see rising poll numbers for democrats… people aren’t pissed at Democrat values and ideals- we’re pissed that it’s taking so long for them to fight back!

  5. Yes! Marcy's comment: Using the word "flee" "fled" makes it sound like a bunch of cowards afraid of the opposition. How to restate the truth to blame MAGA TX GOP legislators! No they should deny payment for not allowing the Statehouse quorum: Stated Purpose: Not Flood Relief but GOP Gerrymandering.

  6. When I bowled on a league I was not very good. I was the official handicap for my team.

There are handicaps in politics. People who are just not very good.

Greg Abbott is Donald Trump's handicap

  7. There is ZERO integrity in the MAGA party. They try to pass bills in the middle of the night. They're the ones ALWAYS gerrymandering districts to cheat. They're the ones that ALWAYS vote down any ethics or oversight laws. They're just scummy and shady people, kissing the ass of a criminal.

  8. Good. It's about time Democrats stand up for our country against trump and his sycophants

  9. What WI Dems did in 2011, in an effort to prevent then-Gov Walker from destroying unions with his idiotic Act 10 😔 They weren't successful.

  10. Attorney Grifter AG Paxton, ā€œIt’s imperative that they be swiftly arrested, punished, and face the full force of the lawā€¦ā€

If we see this tested, judiciary will face a decision — the most corrupt official fighting for fascism vs. the most principled for democracy.

  11. Sooooo, in TX, Republican Senators can leave the state/country during states of emergencies but Democratic State House members will be arrested. Got it.

  12. "fled" is an over-dramatic term. Please, stop with the hyperbolic writing. They left the state, and they did so for a noble purpose.

  13. This is a good delay tactic by the TX Democrats, to piss off the republicans. However, republicans will redraw their congressional maps in TX. Florida and Ohio will follow. Democrats in California, Illinois, New York, Oregon, Washington, et al must respond in kind and fast. Time is of the essence.

  14. Thank you Texas Dems! The special session was supposed to address the flooding deaths of sweet small children. How hypocritical that the state that rejects all federal help and wants full control of itself is accepting marching orders from a Trump. We do not handle emergencies very well (Uvalde).

  15. is this tactic even effective if they are dealing Rs that don’t carry about the laws/tradition? why wouldn’t they change the quorum rules and vote the maps thru? even if the court struck them down, they could just used them anyway like Ohio Rs did.

    1
  16. And Dems assume MAGA legislators will respect the rules of quorum… why?

MAGA lawmakers will make the YaoMing.jpg face and pass this bill anyway, right?

  17. You’re surprised? Of course they run. Few have done anything to stop this lawless admin since it started. You and Brian Cohen have done more than all dems combined.

  18. Just to be clear, they're leaving because there needs to be two thirds of lawmakers present for any votes to be held and Republicans only make up roughly 60% of them.

They're essentially shutting down the Texas house in a similar fashion to Mike Johnson but not to protect pedophiles.

  19. Good for them. Blue states now need to get off their butts and gerrymander, as this move by the Texas dems is just going to delay the inevitable. Unilateral disarmament is for suckers.

  20. They can delay it but sooner or later they’ll have to come back. The $500 a day fines add up.

  21. This was done once before. Bought some time but was unsuccessful. Maybe this time will be different.

  22. Every blue state should gerrymander to achieve as many blue seats in congress as possible. I get that doing so sounds un democratic but we don’t have a democracy at this point and so in the words of Trump asking for black votes ā€œwhat the hell do you have to loseā€

  23. I would like to see a cohesive agenda for "when we win" in 2026, one that will help the middle class so much that even magas will vote blue, that Dem candidates can run for office on.

    0
  24. The last two times they tried this they were unsuccessful, why will this time be different?

  25. The anti quorum strategy...a dangerous maneuver but it can really hit hard when it works. This strategy failed at the Minneapolis City Convention, so I wonder what's different here.

    2
  26. I'm really glad to see Dems in red states fighting back. I hope Dems in blue states recognize the sacrifice of TX Dems who are literally putting their lives and livelihoods on the line for this. Do not fail them by playing the fence. Fight with them.

    1
  27. Thanks to Texas Democrats for leaving the state. It's to stop Trump and the Texas GOP from gerrymandering their way to a full-on nazi regime. Trump demanded Gov Abbott to redistrict Texas to give him 5 Republican seats in Congress.

The Texas Dems will do everything they can to fight the nazis.

  28. Good on them. They're fighting back the best way they can. I wish voters would support Democrats so they didn't have to do this. If Texas obliterates Democratic representatives by gerrymandering, blue states, including California, should do the same to get rid of Republicans reps.

  29. What it does is it buys the Democrats time.

Eventually they will be forced to return and the map will pass. But the hope is that by buying more time, Dems can prepare for when it does pass.

    2
  30. I like this, but I am fearful this will just delay Dem Govs from gerrymandering their own states. Then, Texas ends up Gerrymandering (the Dems can’t stay away forever) while blue states run out of time or when they do gerrymander, courts intervene and prevent blue state reciprocity.

  31. Maybe they can go to some world class museums and music venues just to see how the other half lives.

  32. It's about time that the Dems started playing by the same "rules" that the GOP has been flouting for years. Gone are the days of, "when they go low, we go high."

    3
  33. Our governor is so far up trumps ass he will just keep calling another special session. Fight fire with fire in the next election and get rid of every ass sucking republican.

    0
  34. I was heartily against this when GOP lawmakers pulled this in Oregon.

However, it is effective, and the Dems have to start playing by the playground rules.

Don't bring a water balloon to a knife fight.

    More of this, please!
