Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO.

Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

  1. (Applause) This is why I muted Cuban the moment he came to Bluesky. He might be slightly less toxic than the rest of them, but that’s not saying much.

  2. how about rather than incentivize the very rich we tax them out of existence so we don’t have to pretend they have good ideas

  3. In his defense, I think he’s talking about regulations and incentives that would broadly work for business businesses. If it’s more palatable to think about a small business that is barely staying afloat, owner hardly pulling any salary yet because they’re trying to get business off the ground.

  4. You know how billionaires got to be the wealthiest and most powerful people on the planet? By being the greediest and most selfish people on the planet.

  5. This is a good point.

The most effective way to hijack good moral actions is to write a book, say it's all about good moral things and then pretend. Like a lot!

  6. Martha, in this capitalist society of ours with fewer and fewer checks in place, we probably need smart policy over relying on the good will of the rich.

  7. Governments use taxes to incentivize desirable things… Emissions standards, Company wide average MPG requirements, not taxing employee 401K contributions.

The lower corporate tax rate for companies with higher minimum wages is a good idea IMHO.

  8. He’s not a normal rich guy. The other ones need incentives. It’s dumb, but the thinking around all this needs to change. Our consumerism mentality as a nation really comes out with them. Buying things just to buy them. The days of building a museum, heck even sponsoring a kids sports team, are over

  9. Yes, I have insane wealth and power, and the ability to do tremendous good with very little effort if I was built that way. But, I also need a cookie. And a pat on the head. And fawning public adoration. Oh, and to keep all the money.

  10. Your right, but there is a nugget of truth here. As a society, we shouldn't rely on people to choose to be moral and good. If you incentivize correctly, even evil assholes and douchebags will do the right thing.

Similarly, you have to enforce a minimum wage, even if Some businesses already pay well

If Cuban actually wanted to make the world a better place he would transfer all of his wealth to Martha and let her do good with it.

  12. Maybe you can change the behaviour of an individual by appealing to their morals. But if you want to change the behaviour of a group of people, or companies, then yes, you have to talk about financial incentives, negative or positive. Sorry to all the highly principled people, that's how it works 😏.

  13. This is a weird thing about the US. The govt is there purely to assist people. Yet the US depends heavily on a relatively few people to donate to support social programs - which is totally backwards. The "donations" should be taxes collected by govt, and distributed to help a wide range of people.

  14. This malevolent cretin going John Galt was exactly what I expected.

First the crypto posturing and then the demand for incentives/ bribes, give the whole game away. They have a sports team, they get attention and then they demand worship.

  15. Also wages are already a business expense that can be used to reduce the tax they pay, he wants to double dip on it

  16. That’s why we say there are no “good” billionaires. They act like they are better than the rest of us. Newsflash, they shit, eat, and breathe just like everybody else.

  17. They use orphan crusher machines to shield themselves from any notion that they could & should do more.

Like Mark's is the lower prescription drug price program. Forget the fact that prescription drugs would be free if corporate greed were massively curbed & the drugs were phenomenally available.

  19. 💯 He should pay taxes like the rest of us. We don’t get any special tax breaks or favors. We do good things for our communities WHILE we work all day and night, pay our taxes, and don’t get “incentives” to just be decent people

  20. It's curious that this moral outrage and talk of "obliterating" billionaires is directed at the billionaire who used his wealth and knowledge to create a system whereby average people can access necessary medications at reasonable prices.

  21. “Why be nice if I don’t get a prize?” Pre-schooler mentality. He stopped listening before they taught him about sharing. It’s gotta be a sad and lonely existence thinking no one rewarded you for already being rewarded for all the rewards you’ve hoarded. Cue Family Guy song “These problems matter.”

  22. “You need to incentivize me to put money back in the pockets of the workers who made me rich in the first place.” That’s what I heard him say.

Time to start taxing the hell out of corporations whose folks on the top make 100s of times what the bulk of their staff makes.

  23. Every time some rich dude talks about needing some “incentive” to actually do something helpful with all of their money, all I can think of is this scene.

Panel from the Superman comic “All-Star Superman.” Superman is standing over the prone form of a defeated Lex Luthor. Superman says: “You could have saved the world years ago if it mattered to you, Luthor.”

  24. The billionaires think they are god. They demand that we sacrifice more for them to act in humanity’s behalf. The same as it ever was
