And expect that number to shrink further.

No matter how much the government, major parties, or tabloid press push “Brexit benefits…”

People know Brexit doesn’t.

Brexit leaves the UK in a structurally weaker position, bleeding money, time, efficiency and opportunity daily.

Sunday Times cover saying new poll shows only 29% would vote for Brexit now.

  1. And please remember the main protagonist was Farage. He’s no good for the UK.

  2. The US hopes our citizens get a double dose of regret, not with our "government" but for the ass trying to run it into the ground for his personal benefit.

  3. Here are HM Treasury's "Operation Yellowhammer" predictions from 2018, dismissed by Gove as Project Fear (very similar to Trump firing his head of labor statistics when her dept's report told him what he didn't want to hear). Brexiteers can't say they weren't warned.

  4. Speaking to friends who thought voting leave was a good idea now blame the lies they were told for the decision they made. It’s very widespread

  5. And yet in every poll they are unwilling to make any compromise that rejoining would require.

It seems exceptionalism is alive and well!

I want to rejoin as soon as possible, but unless people engage with the likely consequences (Euro, no rebate, Schengen, etc.) it won’t happen.

  6. And the importance of good relations and mutual support with our neighbours is high on my list of benefits of being a member of the EU. I live in a small close, my neighbours and I are always ready to help in emergencies, but aren’t intrusive at other times. The support of neighbours is priceless.

  9. The sooner Labour start challenging Reform and the Conservatives directly about the disaster that is Brexit the sooner they will start to revive their fortunes, and ours

  10. I voted for Labour at the General Election. I wish I had voted for the Party committed to rejoining the EU, the Liberal Democrats. From now on I will vote for the Party that commits to rejoin the EU. No Referendum, just a straight forward commitment!

  11. You made the mistake of letting the right get a foothold with propaganda. They aren't leaving until they've taken your healthcare retirement the treasury and your military and every asset they can privatize leaving you with massive debt. Welcome to right wing government Hunger Games edition.

  12. To think that this stupid ignorant government knows that if even if they join just the customs union, the good will from the markets believing that Britain has finally recovered it senses will immediately mean lower borrowing costs and growth in gdp as small businesses are freed to export.

  13. Yes and if the fuckers had lost they’d still be out there calling for another vote. Maybe it’s time for that vote.

  14. IMHO that 29% will not change much over the next few years. Sadly, there is a minority that will fanatically support our eu exit no matter the cost.

  15. Interesting that the 29% is roughly the same as the current polling figures for #Reform. But #FPTP could well hand Reform an overall parlianmentary majority on that 29%. Bizarre

  16. We all know numbers in polls, votes etc can be manipulated, elections don't reflect will of the people. Tyrants like Trump/Netanyahu +Corporate backing will rule the world if not stopped. Johnson tried his hand as World King & failed but his democracy destroying legacy; policies/laws remain in play

  17. The weapons-grade irony of rapidly diminishing support for Brexit at the same time as increasing support for the guy who, more than anyone else, made it happen!!

It’s almost like there are a lot of very stupid people in our country.

  18. I mean, the basic reason to throw out the Brexit vote was that the day after, the pro-Brexit side threw out the promise that leaving would save zillions of pounds for the NHS. Brexiteers have been full of BS since day one.

  19. Yes, unfortunately the big frogs want to maintain their small pond and apparently they run things.

Reminder: the Lib Dems have 72 seats and are pro #rejoinEU

    reform have 4.

  20. But other polls tell us that the next PM will be Nigel Farage. Maybe those people who want another referendum should turn up to vote at general elections?

    1
  21. And yet Fake Farage, chief architect of Brexit, former MEP in EU parliament - which he rarely attended except to tell xenophobic lies & claim expenses; finally, after 8 attempts, the richest MP in HOC, funded by fossil fuel/oil corporations, is promoted by r/wing media as the next PM? Toxic Farage😬

  22. Only 29% would elect to touch the stove again after burning their hand.

"Maybe it isn't hot this time."

  23. Doing a pretty rough calculation, turns out rejoining the EU with full benefits and cutting back virtually all tangible goods trade with the US would make us significantly better off.

I realise it’s far more complex and maybe a bit costlier, but come on- that has to be worth it doesn’t it?

  24. Right wing media owned by billionaires suckered the Brits into voting against their own self interests just like they suckered many Americans into voting for a pedophile rapist and 34X convicted felon.

  25. I am convinced that Brexit was a Russian GRU propaganda op, just like Demexit and Calexit.

  26. I don't think people understood what drugs it was before. Didn't they think that it was a way to kick out all the "foreigners"? That's one way to use one's xenophobia against them I guess

  27. Late and bitter awakening. Foreseeable from the beginning.

People just seem unable to defy cheaters like Farage, Trump et.al.

So they have to pay the price, time and again.

  28. Idiots must be idiots. Remember that people voted for a horrible person, a crook, a friend of pedophiles, an imbecile with heavy makeup just because the eggs price ticked up a bit. Fuck the voters. Fuck them.

  29. 100% but the City of London has a veto. Rejoining would mean their secret tax avoidance empire would be threatened.

  30. Yet another example of where a massive public consensus - Brexit, renationalisation, wealth tax, gaza, decarbonisation - is simply blocked by unaccountable vested interests. The gap between the governed and those who govern them has never been greater.

  31. If people weren’t so stupid and gullible (and racist) they wouldn’t have backed it then.

  32. Tables needn't be turning if enough people had voted in the first place. Voter apathy, they didn't think it could happen. It was corruption and lies that won.

  33. Strange how the labour government are obsessed and struggling to save a billion pounds here and there, when there's £100bn sitting there with a brexit reversal.

    1
  34. Salience, salience, salience… like immigration and trans issues… if there were another referendum (parties lacking the courage to make joining part of a manifesto) then the press inc the BBC would be back with the idiots from the IEA, extra Furridge etc and that 29% would shift adverse to joining

    0
  35. All the while the government says they will make Brexit work. They’re hot on growing the economy, yet leave this huge barrier in place.

  36. What an utter waste of the last 9yrs; thanks largely to the greed of big business, venture capitalists, right wing media morons and the utter stupidity of those who refused to see that they were the cannon fodder.

  37. They knew all this at the time but so many wanted Johnson to bring back the empire and their status as subjects thereto. Conveniently forgetting that most subjects were dirt poor. Never mind, a bit of bread and a paltry circus…

  38. There was never a time support for staying in the EU dipped below 29% - sadly that's irrelevant now we're out

The path to joining EU involves acclimatising UK voters to compromises involved - gaining popular support for them as a price worth paying

Is Labour brave enough to do this? Not at present

  39. The UK died with devolution. The English middle class (you and other remainers) do not know how to win over non metropolitan England. Brexi was the start.

  40. More importantly: leaves UK citizens 3rd class Europeans—less rights than 🇭🇷 who, only 20yrs ago were at full blown war!

It’s disgraceful & MUST end, we fought twice for the liberation of Europe, only to now have less rights than the Europeans we fought for, if you want to look look at it like tht!

    2
  41. As have said, elsewhere, ~20% UK population actively racist. Further 10% hard of thinking, easily duped by right wing media feeding them self-serving bile. Think this reflects the baseline for Leave. No matter how much further evidence accrued, not gonna change this "core's" mind.

  42. How do we square such a great poll for those of us who are pro EU with the polls for Fartrage and the Deform Party? Interested in your view.

    0
  43. Honest question-- If this is the case, why is it so "impossible" to rejoin the EU? Some repeat "the people voted for it", but it's clear most who did had no idea what they were truly voting for. ?
